I think they will call them “Assault Knives”.
How many clips are in the magazine?
Good for Scott Walker.
Details on appearance and how it opens matter with a knife. If I'm in an area where the victim is likely to be prosecuted for effective self-defense, I'd rather carry a "Hello Kitty" knife. Even a liberal would be embarrassed to claim intent in someone with that knife. Intent really has nothing to do with cosmetics, but democrats think it does.
That’s what they’re called.
Twenty-some years back, I ordered an Italian ‘stiletto’ knife kit. It showed up completely assembled, but needed a drop of WD-40 to get it to flick open fast when the go button was pushed. Fun toy, but more suited to opening mail rather than fighting. The Fairbairn-Sykes IS a good design for such activities, but this ol’ dude ain’t going there...
True story. I was walking along a dirt road and a car with a couple of high school punks drove by, then stopped a few yards ahead, waited a second or two, then burned out, throwing all kinds of dust and crap at me. Being the diplomat I am, I flipped them off and kept walking. The car slammed on the brakes and then backed up to me and the occupants jumped out.
I was carrying a switchblade my brother had picked up during an excursion to Mexico. It was more of a novelty than a weapon. The blade was such junk steel it wouldn’t hold an edge and couldn’t cut compressed air, but I casually pulled it out as the pair of idiots rushed me. When they got close enough, I snapped the blade open and just stared at them. They stopped dead in their tracks and left faster than they came.
There is something pretty intimidating about a switchblade.
I have a Tijuana stiletto and a very old mother of pearl handled switchblade, both with useless steel. Last year I got a Lightning OTF knife and have carried it daily. It takes a great edge and holds it. Some knife reviewer was amazed at the quality for $30 or so. Make sure you get the made in Taiwan steel, not the later China made.
Every time I open it around somebody, they jump in surprise. Then they look at it and like it. That initial snap is an attention getter.
You don’t want one of these knives to open while in your pocket!
