GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump says he hopes Sen. Bernard Sanders keeps going in the 2016 race on the Democratic side, hinting that Mr. Sanders’ attacks on Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton could help Mr. Trump.
“Crooked Hillary — is there anybody more crooked than this woman? No, is there anybody?” Mr. Trump said at a Thursday rally in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. “You know Bernie Sanders, who in all fairness, and I have to tell you in all fairness, he said she has bad judgment, all right? She does.”
“He’s been tough on her,” Mr. Trump said. “In fact, I’d like him to keep going, because the longer he goes, the more I’m going to like it.”
“What he’s saying about her … he said she suffers from bad judgment,” Mr. Trump said. “Now, I don’t know. I think she’s qualified, I guess, but that doesn’t mean she’s good.”

Sanders has helped Dems not be able to crossover to any great effect. If Sanders was out it would also make an argument for Cruz or Kasich to get out because Dems and TDS types could vote against Trump for one candidate.
I wonderfully simple, humbly submitted argument. A pre-emptive strike as well, because Hillary has been nothing if not a resume builder. But Trump has said all along this would be an election based on competence.
People make fun of Trump's simply "buffoonish" language, but, imo, this is a good example of how well it can work (and get quoted in the papers, to boot.)
Then there's the whole psy-ops angle with the soon-to-be-seriously-disgruntled Bernie voters. Even if Trump only gets 10% of them in the general, it's picking off enemy votes.
Just my two cents. I've been wrong a million times before.
I find it fascinating that Trump and Sanders agree on where we are as a nation and how we got here. They just disagree vehemently on how we’re going to get out of this mess.

Dont trump and sanders both want higher taxes, less trade, less competition, socialized medicine, abortion, and more government control over the economy?

Trump is setting PIAPS up by calling her crooked. Think back to PIAPS background. Trump is trying to get her to say “I am not a crook on camera.”
Trump doesn’t want less trade - he wants less ‘rip off’ trade.
