Trump schedules foreign policy speech in D.C. next week

Donald Trump told thousands of voters in Harrisburg, Pa., Thursday night he isn't quite ready to be "presidential," but said he'd get there next week in time for a major foreign policy speech in the nation's capital.

Trump will discuss the U.S. economy as it relates to national security during a speech next Wednesday at the National Press Club, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The billionaire is also considering hiring a speechwriter to assist him with several major speeches his campaign has planned in the coming months. Much like the rest of Trump's newest hires, the speechwriter will reportedly be based in Trump's soon-to-open campaign office near Capitol Hill.

Trump's attempt to lay out a detailed foreign policy vision will come just over a month after he delivered the first serious speech of his campaign at the annual American Israel Public Affairs Committee policy conference in Washington, D.C.

The billionaire candidate, whose supporters have grown fond of his unfiltered speaking style, was mocked for having used a teleprompter then, after repeatedly criticizing President Obama and others for their reliance on scripted remarks.

In addition to his upcoming foreign policy speech, the Journal reported that Trump is also working on a speech that focuses on his immigration plan, including his proposal to build a wall along the Southern border, which many question, as well as a separate speech on education.

Earlier Thursday, Trump's chief campaign strategist Paul Manafort told Republican National Committee members that Trump will begin to run a more traditional campaign leading up to the convention in July.

"He's told Rick [Wiley] and I that he's willing to spend what's necessary to finish this out. That's a big statement from him," Manafort said of Trump, according to those present at the RNC's spring meeting in Hollywood, Fla.

"The negatives will come down, the image is going to change, but Clinton is still going to be 'Crooked Hillary,' and that's what you're going to be seeing a lot more of," he added.

This will be interesting. Don't normally watch the Trump rallies, but I'll be sure to tune in for this one.

At least he wasn’t “widely mocked”.

Who mocked him by the way?

“...after repeatedly criticizing President Obama and others for their reliance on scripted remarks.”

There is a huge difference in using a teleprompter for every public utterance than using one for formal policy statements. 0bama has even used a teleprompter when speaking to 6th graders, and at signing ceremonies.

yep probably a big difference with using a teleprompter to give a major speech and using a teleprompter to say “I uh oh ah I uh and”

The AIPAC speech was epic. Don’t miss this one, it will be equally so.

Keep in mind that I am not a Trumpist. I look at this as the lesser of two evils and will keep my mouth zipped on negative items until after the election.

So in looking at it, I won't be looking, mouth agape at his brilliance, but will be looking at it with the cynicism of Realpolitik.

Sorry, but that's the best he'll ever get out of me until he has convinced me that he will govern is governing as a conservative.

Lol, is he finally hiring some advisors to coach him, or will he shoot from the hip as usual?

"He's told Rick [Wiley] and I...
Aaargh...

Sorry. Personal irk. Should have been "He's told Rick [Wiley] and me". Or he could have said "Rick [Wiley] and I were told...".

This is why the Left is trying to derail Trump over trannies using women’s bathrooms and abortion.

...

Another parallel with Reagan, who didn’t get speechwriting help until he became president.

“Another parallel with Reagan, who didn't get speech writing help until he became president.”

Please dispense with the Reagan/Trump analogies. No need to drag down Reagan to make Trump look more than he is.

Reagan was writing his own speeches well before the White House. Simply listen to any of his policy speeches from the late 50s to the late 70s. His communication skills were so far beyond where Trump will ever get to - even with these clowns helping him with teleprompters.

Your boy is not Reagan, in any way shape or form.

No he's not.

He's Trump, and he's going to go done in history as The Greatest Modern American President.

Even greater than Reagan.

Seriously? I cannot recall ever hearing a leader speak like this in the past. What are people thinking?

“I will become Presidential”

Uhhh - no he doesn't.

Reagan never donated to Leftists, actively promoted abortion, advocated for a wealth tax, was in favor of Affirmative Action, was in favor of the assault weapons ban, was for Universal Health care, was against the states taking over Federal land, was for expanding Medicare by going after drug companies, advocated relations with Cuba because it made economic sense.

I know, wasting time here because these are facts and you guys hates those.

Good luck going forward. We'll all get the chance to vote for a Liberal in November.

Trump's position on abortion is the same as Reagan's. And frankly after watching the globalists rich rob this country blind since 08 I could care less about their tax rate. All the damn rich republicans ever do is try to get tax cuts for themselves and replace us with illegal aliens. I have no loyalty to those rats.

The primary issue I have with taxing the rich is to not impeded economic growth by having taxes to high, something that Trump is very aware of and something the rats ignore.
