Pat Buchanan was interviewed by Sean Hannity last night and raises some good fundamental points regarding the ridiculous positions espoused by professional punditry and political elites. Lots of plain common sense:
1. Trump is holding rallies of 20,000 30,000+ IN A PRIMARY. This is a historic point that most seemingly overlook. No-one ever before has gathered such crowd sizes in primary races. Supportive crowds the size of Trump (and yes, Sanders) have only before been witnessed in general elections, and only one candidate on the republican side is capable of generating this much enthusiasm.
2. The talking point of a contested convention when the clear frontrunner is millions of votes ahead of the field is ridiculous. Prior 19th century contested, open or brokered conventions never involved the sheer scope of the 2016 primary vote lead (currently 2.4 million ahead with well over 8 million votes).
3. This is not forty years ago. With instantaneous communication, instantaneous individual video recordings, and instantaneous video transmission of convention events to the phones, computers and TV screens of the larger U.S. electorate, the visible damage to the party apparatus attempting to defy the will of the voter will be irreparable if the RNC attempts or allows it.

RIGGED!
Trump gets 60% of vote but 95% of the delegates!
Yeah how dare that happen as the result of actual votes, right?
Yes unlike Colorado and Wyoming where nobody voted and Cruz got 100% of the delegates.
It will be instructive to listen to the excuses of the stormtrumpers after he is thoroughly stomped by the loathesome Hillary.
Great idea Pat! The GOP/RNC should select its nominee by carefully analyzing the size of crowds at campaign speeches.

Yes indeed , rigged against any outsider to “the GOPe club” , too bad their strategizing backfired on them.
We always make fun of the small rallies the other candidates have, including Clinton, but their crowds are pretty much normal size for primaries. The really big crowds don’t generally materialize until the general election, but sometimes not even then. In 2008 if McCain wanted a big rally, he had to team up with Palin, otherwise, he usually only drew a few hundred or a few thousand. The biggest rally on his own was the one he had in Miami the night before the election where about 10,000 turned out. Palin was routinely drawing 15,000 to 20,000, and a couple of times 30,000, and about 50,000 at The Villages.
If Trump’s rallies are this big during primary season, I can picture him easily drawing 50,000+ to rallies during the general election.

As it should be, the candidate with the most votes wins, because the best candidate for the general election is the one who has captured the majority of the base voters in the party, and it does away with this contested convention nonsense.
Didn’t O attract large crowds when he first ran for president? Seems like I remember the camera scanning large crowds when he spoke.
And mr 3rd place would have fared so much better.

There will be no excuse. For the American people.
Oh and BTW: “Stormtrumpers?” Shove it.

It’s actually much more interesting to listen to the excuses of the cruzlosers now that the loathesome Cruz has been thoroughly stomped by Trump.
You make dictators sound noble. 51% and win all is better than Zero votes and win all. Its how democracy work. You get 51%, you get laws passed. Cruz wants a system where you get zero votes and still win all
Yeah, it is so unfair that the people choose the candidate rather than the GOP gatekeepers.
Pray America wakes
Great manipulation intended for Jeb.
Hopefully you are able to discern the difference between the primary and general election. Enjoy those primary wins by the orange buffoon, and don’t bother whining when Clinton finishes the destruction of this country that was started by Obama.
Trump will destroy her on so many issues. No other Republican has the arsenal to do that. Besides that, the Republican Party will be OVER if the nomination is stolen from Trump. Republicans down the line will lose. Why? ZERO crossover and independent vote for Republicans without Trump.
