On the surface, President Obama’s request for $1.9 billion dollars for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to fight the ZIKA virus seems pretty reasonable. Speaker Ryan has been holding up approval on that funding for a few months, and Democrats have pounced on him for it. What could Ryan’s objection be? Is he pro-epidemic?
In fact, what Ryan and many congressional Republicans are asking is pretty basic: use the money you already have first, and before we give you more money, tell us how you plan to use it. A brief look at the CDC’s spending over the past 20 years quickly reveals why Congress is wise to be guarded about this latest funding request.
Like most government agencies, the CDC has displayed a tendency to take the Rahm Emmanuel approach of never letting a crisis go to waste. Particularly over the past couple decades, the Center has received major increases in funding to address individual disease scares (anthrax, bird flu, Ebola) that never seem to go away when the outbreak abates. As of fiscal year 2016, the CDC’s budget stands at over $7 billion dollars, compared to under $3 billion in 2000.

They need to fire the whole bunch of doctor impersonators at the CDC, NIH, and Surgeon General offices. They should have slapped travel restrictions on with quarantines for “VIPs” that were so important that they “needed” to travel to Brazil. They should have provided DDT “in kind” for them to take care of the problem in the first place. Don’t give these clowns another dime.
Why are there no stats on the number of affected people? Or pics of the thousands of deformed children?

DDT and a cap on spending. They have failed to do what their original intent was, yet they want more money to fulfill an impossible task. One must understand what a dollar sent to Washington D.C. means. It means nothing more than a job for a bureaucrat and getting 10 cents in return on services, if that. Abolish all agencies not specifically authorized by the Constitution. Freeze federal spending. An immediate 50% cut in all federal agencies would be a start.
I could go on but why? The “leader” bastards in office have no testicles, most of all Lyin’ Paul Ryan and Turtle Face Mitch McDumbo.

These “hurried panics” are used by shrewd people to squeeze money out for their own purposes; Newark NJ used terror funding to buy garbage trucks, and when exposed defended it by saying they might have to haul debris after an attack. In the end, it was just another way to funnel makers’ tax dollars into a takers’ fiscal black hole.

CDC knows all that you have to do to have more money to a government cause or agencey is to scare the hell out of ignorant women and timid men. That’s all! They will go for anything that scares them even if it will do nothing for them. It’s makes them feel SAFE!
Hey, don’t mock the bat house. The amount of mosquitoes a single bat consumes daily is amazing. We need them. Get better PR for bats. I’ve seen their numbers decrease over the last few years near an Upstate lake. Not good.
Meanwhile, while we wait for bat numbers to increase, yes, bring back DDT.
