Very good article.
Thank you, for posting this.
I like his answer...
We have been “turning the other cheek” to the terrorists too long.
P.S. Lonsberry is brilliant and should have been up there with Rush and Hannity and Levin- but the libtards nearly killed his career over some politically correct nonsense.
Liberals would love to run against the Canadian.
You never hear about Hitlery being asked these kinds of questions,
Mr Lonsberry needs to refresh himself on the meaning of “Occam’s razor”.
This is exactly what I’ve been saying. Trump followers are just like the people of Israel in 1st Samuel 8. Israel wanted a king and so do the King Trumpy Worshipers...(and for all the same reasons) Doesn’t matter that King Trumpy doesn’t know God. Israel didn’t care if Saul was a God fearing man or not. They just wanted a King to worship instead of God.
If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. Mt. 5:39
To be slapped on the right check is a Jewish idiom (Matthew’s is “the Jewish” Gospel). To be slapped on the right check is to be slapped with the other person’s left hand. It means to be insulted. Jesus says let insults go. “Turn the other check.” See if you are then slapped with the right hand, which would be an actual harm. THEN, the law “eye for eye” kicks in.
Jesus said he did not come to change the law, but to fulfill or be the end of the law. It would be good to know the cultural context of what Jesus said. This would help many people who think there’s a dichotomy between common sense and following Jesus.
The author did a great job with his article.
If this had been Obama or Hildabeast the responses here would be totally different.
Trump is pandering, yes he does it. To suggests that he is so smart that he is sending a message to Putin is absurd. If you watch his speech patterns and arguing skills he is not an intellectual giant by any stretch of the imagination.
Trump may or may not be a Christian but since I don’t know him personally nor can I see into his heart I have no idea.
If he is a Christian I do know that he is not very disciplined or studied. His life clearly displayes this. For his sake I hope he is.
No need to blast me I will be voting for Trump enthusiastically if he is the nominee. I have said from the beginning I would support Trump, Cruz, or Carson and all of this campiagn rhetoric won’t change that. I am not tossed to and fro by every wind of change. I encourage Freepers to do the same.
The vitriol displayed on here for the last couple of months is rediculous. I know we have infiltrators on here but gee whiz aren’t we all actually on the same team with the same goal.
An ‘eye for an eye’ works for me.
Good read
Skeptical at first but got my attention
In actuality, stating "an eye for an eye" is actually an act of judicial prudence. The Bible is stating that if the crime results in a loss of an eye then the punishment can't be greater than the loss of an eye. Back in the day almost all violations of the law ended in a death sentence. For example, we get the term "Draconian" from the Athenian law giver Dracos who punished every violation of even the most minor law with a death sentence (was outside of the Bible but Dracos was not unique).
So I rebuke Bob Lonsberry's theological interpretation.
There is nothing wrong with Trump’s bible reference:
“You must show no pity for the guilty! Your rule should be life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.”
Deut. 19:21
“an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a hand for a hand, a foot for a foot,”
Exodus 21:24
The Old Testamant IS part of the Bible.
the Bible is always right. every verse. every time.
but it does make you think very deeply about everything written down by God in the context of the whole Word of God. people who create “contradictions” between verses in the Bible, generally have some more thinking to do.
God is always the same, old testament, and new. He ordered, his leaders to go in and kill the evil doers, and when they obeyed, he blessed them. When they disobeyed he chastised them. Our leaders have the responsibility of defending, protecting us, and in some cases destroying completely our enemies. This is biblical, and right. Obama has been totally devoid of any interest in doing any of those things.

Trump practices a modified form of the Golden Rule. His interpretation of this rule is: “Do unto others as they do unto you”; because if you “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” and they, in turn, treat you badly, it goes against human nature to continue to treat them with consideration. You should do unto others as you would have them do unto you, but if your courtesy is not returned, they should be treated with the wrath they deserve.
That seems to me to be in line with Trump’s way of thinking.
Finally my Dad told me to hit them back 10 times harder and to not stop until they're on the ground, which I proceeded to do and I never had any further problems with bullies. To this day I'm an eye for an eye type of guy when it comes to physical violence because it works. Jesus’s recommendation on turning the other cheek doesn't seem to apply in a lot of situations and Jesus himself wasn't beyond opening up a can of whoop ass on the money changers in the temple.
And if we're talking Christian forgiveness of our enemies here, I haven't seen a lick of love thy enemies from Cruz supporters, just pure hate and often slander towards Trump supporters.
