The impassioned election-year debate over President Obama’s immigration executive actions lands Monday before a short-handed Supreme Court, where justices will consider a fundamental question: how much power does the president truly have?

The justices plan to hold 90 minutes of oral arguments dealing with Obama’s bid to spare millions of illegal immigrants from deportation.

A coalition of states calls it an executive power grab. "President Obama's executive action is an affront to our system of republican self-government," said Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, who supports those states.

But the White House contends the president’s authority is clear, and the policies humane and reasonable.

No wonder Obama wants to add one more justice to the Court.

The appeals court ruling is against Obama; a SCOTUS tie means Obama loses. Normally I would expect the four hard left “justices” to ignore the Constitution. If they think one of the somewhat objective justices will vote to overturn the appellate court, they will vote to overturn en bloc. If the leftists know or think the semi-free’s will all vote to sustain, some of them might vote to sustain, out of fear of a future President Trump. My guess: major Obama loss, possibly even unanimous.

This law means nothing. He is importing thousands of invaders by the day here. He is even sending planes to pick them up.

It would seem to me that the case is a simple one. When the executive branch refuses to enforce duly enacted laws, it effectively makes law. This violates separation of powers, and by-passes the will of the people. It is the very definition of disenfranchisement.

REALITY CHECK: DHS had already issued three-year deferrals to more than 100,000 illegal aliens in violation of Judge Hannen's injunction. DOJ attorneys had assured him — both in court and in written pleadings — that no part of Obama's plan would be implemented until late February....

US LAWS CURRENTLY ON THE BOOKS---believe it or not:

(1) foreign nationals in the US must at least avoid criminal activity,

(2) foreigners must stay off public assistance,

(3) the US govt is disinclined to grant "asylum" (means a free ride on the US gravy train and endless SS payments) to “fearful refugees” from war-torn Islamic regions,

(4) on-the-book govt mandates force struggling taxpayers to foot the bill for the refugees to go back and forth between America and their supposedly hostile homelands on the taxpayers' dime.

(NOTE: The Tsarnev bomber's family was flown to his Boston trial on the taxpyers' dime. While planning the bombing the entire family---of all ages from elderly to newborn---pocketed every known Massachusetts and US govt handout.)

Midway through fiscal year 2016, how is Obama doing with his refugee surge?

In previous years Obama set the ceiling on refugee admissions at 70,000, but this year it is 85,000 from around the world with 10,000 of that number being Syrians. It appears he and his team at the US State Department are way behind.

Checking the data as of yesterday (12 days past the midway point in the year which was March 31), we have admitted 30,632 which leaves 54,368 to go.

To reach that goal in a little over 5 months we are looking for an arrival rate of nearly 10,000 a month!
