Paul Ryan is giving a big speech to officially rule out a late bid to nominate him for presidency

House Speaker Paul Ryan on Tuesday plans to officially rule out a potential late bid for the presidency.

"He's going to rule himself out and put this to rest once and for all," a Ryan aide told Business Insider.

Ryan's speech is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. ET in the lobby of the Republican National Committee office in Washington, DC.

Speculation surrounding Ryan's potential late-entry as a last-minute choice at the Republican convention in July has reached a fever pitch over the past month, as the likelihood of a contested convention has increased.

Last week, Politico's Mike Allen reported in his newsletter that "top Republicans are becoming increasingly vocal" of the possibility that Ryan winds up with the GOP nomination.

"One of the nation's best-wired Republicans," as cited by Allen, gave Ryan a better-than-50% chance of leaving the July convention as the party's nominee.

The Republican nominee could be named at the convention if none of the three remaining candidates enter it with 1,237 delegates. Frontrunner Donald Trump needs to secure a bit more than 60% of the remaining delegates to go into the convention with the 1,237 delegates.

Ryan, who was in Israel as a part of a congressional delegation visit last week, told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt that he remained uninterested in the job.

"I think you need to run for president if you're going to be president, and I'm not running for president," Ryan said. "So period, end of story."

I ‘ruled out’ Paul Ryan a few months ago when he blamed the TEA Party members for something or other.

He also said he did not want to be Speaker....

Does anyone believe anything he says?

Just laying the false groundwork that people WANT him as an alternative so that he can later claim “my supporters WANT me to do this!”

Horseshit.

Of course he’s not ruling out VP in case he and Romney get a do-over.

“House Speaker Paul Ryan on Tuesday plans to officially rule out a potential late bid for the presidency.”

Who needs to give a speech saying he is not a presidential candidate in April after never campaigning, never entering a primary and never asking to be considered as president?

The very fact that Ryan needs to give such a speech means that some very powerful people in the media and the Republican Party want him to be the party nominee for president.

I do not know who the Republican nominee will be. But it appears that if there is a brokered convention Paul Ryan will have some very powerful supporters.

“Running” isn’t the same as being honestly selected through votes of actual ordinary citizen voters.

Will he at least change some of the words.

Yes, we voters took the liberty of "ruling out" Mister Ryan out some time ago.

EXCLUSIVE: Paul Ryan to Attend Secret Donor Meeting Next Week in Manhattan

Despite denials, Speaker plays footsie with GOP money men

EXCERPT

The Observer can now report that Todd Ricketts, the co-owner of the Chicago Cubs who is also the son of the founder of Ameritrade, is arranging a meeting of some of the GOP’s top financial bundlers, to be attended by Mr. Ryan. The meeting is to take place next week at the Mandarin Hotel and will be comprised of a discussion with “twenty or so” Republican donors, including Mr. Ricketts and several people he has raised money with before, such as Randy Kendrick, the wife of Arizona Diamondbacks owner Ken Kendrick.
