Cruz outmaneuvering Trump in behind-the-scenes battles for delegates (COLORADO Yesterday)

David Coonradt came to the Colorado state Republican convention as part of Ted Cruz's “persuasion team,” a squad of volunteers working to secure more delegates to propel Cruz to the party's presidential nomination.

He came ready to tout the Texas senator's gun-rights and antiabortion credentials, the most crucial information he had to impart appeared on the back of his neon orange Tshirt.

“The official Ted Cruz slate,” the shirt blared, with the names of 13 prospective delegates below.

More than 600 people were vying Saturday for 13 delegate slots for the Republican National Convention in July. The Cruz campaign wanted to ensure these loyal 13 secured those spots. Turning their volunteers into walking billboards was just one way to do so.

Donald Trump has won more votes and carried more states than any Republican. Still, he stands a fair chance of losing the GOP nomination because up to now he largely ignored one of the most rudimentary aspects of a presidential run: securing loyal delegates

The Cruz campaign has trounced Trump in those battles, building on work to identify and organize supporters that Cruz began months ago. Those successes are improving Cruz's odds of emerging as the Republican nominee if Trump falls short of winning a majority of delegates.

“You have to think of this whole process as having two different tracks to it. There's the primary process — that's about winning and allocating delegates,” said Ben Ginsberg, a veteran Republican election lawyer.

But “the story that will really be more important to what happens in Cleveland,” he said, “is the delegate-selection track. They're two connected but separate skill sets.”

Belatedly, Trump has scrambled to remedy his campaign's shortcomings. Last week, he designated a longtime Washington insider, Paul J. Manafort, to oversee efforts to ensure that Trump has the 1,237

So Trump completely ignores CO because there is no vote, but Cruz “outmaneuvers” him. I guess it’s true Cruz only wins when there is no opposition.

If these state parties keep this up , I predict they will end up putting what were once very safe down ballot Republican seats in play (Senate, House, statewide seats) ...the DIMs have to be very happy right now

And how many did Donald Trump send?

I’m not a big fan of Trump, but when the Republican establishment takes the nomination away from him, millions will stay home. Hello Hillary!!

Time to plan for the post Republican Party.

Stupid Trump, why didn’t he spend the last 20 years putting party hacks in positions throughout Colorado so he could win Colorado’s state party delegation?

Yes, party hacks get to choose the delegates in Colorado, and it’s Trumps fault the party hacks pick party hacks as delegates. Got it.

If Trump doesn’t win, America is doomed!!!

Oh' please...that's ridiculous...

America is already doomed...

The things that made us great were hollowed out and weakened by the constant left wing progressive incrementalism affecting all pillars of our culture...just a matter of time before it all collapses...

Trump can't fix us, he can correct a few things like immigration, PC idiotic nonsense...etc...

We need someone who is a constitutional conservative, which Trump isn't...

He isn't going to destroy the GOPe, he will snuggle up to them as soon as he wins...(if)

The very fact a guy like Bernie Sanders has gotten the traction he has gotten tells us everything we need to know about the future...

We doomed...

The youth of this country will not able to govern a republic...

They are completely ill-prepared...

Wow, the GOPe is incredibly strong in CO. There were 8000 party hacks picking all those Cruz delegates. 8k hacks chosen initially through 3k precinct caucuses lobbied by zero Trump organization. I thought Trump said he donated to all sides so he’d have influence at the end. He seems to have forgotten that in fly over country.

So no Voters have to cast a ballot in order for a candidate to receive a nomination?

I think that system has been tried before.

http://time.com/2854513/ted-cruz-canadian-citizenship/

http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/07/politics/ted-cruz-citizenship-childhood/index.html

This is in STARK contrast to a statement he put out in 2014.

Given the raft of stories today about my birth certificate, it must be a slow news day. The facts of my birth are straightforward: I was born in 1970 in Calgary, Canada. Because my mother was a U.S. citizen, born in Delaware, I was a U.S. citizen by birth. When I was a kid, my Mom told me that I could choose to claim Canadian citizenship if I wanted. I got my U.S. passport in high school.

Because I was a U.S. citizen at birth, because I left Calgary when I was 4 and have lived my entire life since then in the U.S., and because I have never taken affirmative steps to claim Canadian citizenship, I assumed that was the end of the matter. Now the Dallas Morning News says that I may technically have dual citizenship. Assuming that is true, then sure, I will renounce any Canadian citizenship. Nothing against Canada, but I’m an American by birth and as a U.S. Senator, I believe I should be only an American.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SZlnhvi8XU

Until Ted Cruz unlocks his sealed records, and shows us what he is hiding, there is no way this man should be elected as POTUS, let alone a Senator...

We didn’t push hard enough with Obuma, and now another foreign born, not to Two Parents of the United States, (which we don’t know about the mother, with all the lies that Ted Cruz keeps telling) we should put a stop to this until WE the American Voting People know for sure we are not electing another 3 year Senator that could do worse than what the one in the White House has done to America and her people since he has been there...

There is a lot more where this came from, but I will post only when I’m ready, but you need to study Cuba, the dates, the Canadian Laws on immigration, and read for yourselves about the lies that are being told by this family...
