A New Jersey man who's been flying Donald Trump's campaign flag in front of his home since February could face up to a $2,000 fine or jail time when he faces a judge in the case.
Joe Hornick has been flying Trump's "Make America Great Again" flag outside his West Long Branch home on a busy corner near the Monmouth University campus for months.
But he got a ticket recently citing him for illegally posting political signage more than 30 days before an election. The New Jersey presidential primary isn't until June 7.
"I'm not a football fan, I'm not a sports fan, but I'm surely a Donald Trump fan," he told NBC 4 New York.
Hornick actually flies two Trump flags day and night, and lights them up when it gets dark. They've been ripped down five times so far.
"Let them come, let them rip those flags down because I have a warehouse on alert, and I'll put up a flag every time they tear one down," he said.

Let’s not forget the a-holes stomping on our American flag. If you’re going to jail this guy for flying a Trump flag, then these people need to be put away too.
Long Branch - a horrible political community that tried to steal land from its own taxpayers. Combined with nearby Asbury Park, all of their pols should be in jail.
It would have been a slam-dunk First Amendment win while Scalia was alive.
Today? Who knows??
You can’t fly a Trump flag, but you can burn the American flag...America the land of the free...
More Trump flags need to be flown!
Maybe the law does not apply to the home??
Seems an impingement on Free Speech Rights!
A Trump flag is not necessarily political signage.
He could fly Trump Towers, he could fly Trump Golf Courses, etc.
He could fly Trump Card in celebration of card games.
Fascism, plain and simple.

I lived in West Long Branch. I was amazed how that in that area every 6 blocks seemed to be another little town.
Monmouth U was an absolute joke but it may have improved since my time there.
Well, like all of these schools, the money poured in on the gorgeous infrastructure probably hides the bad schooling that goes on there.
I should say that W. Long Branch is a different community than Long Branch proper. I watched them pull down a beautiful colonial house in WLB that we were outbid on. It had the original colonial post office within the house. They put up an Iranian mcmansion that is favored by Iranians who move here. Awful.

I am a Cruz supporter, but I will stand with this homeowner. Political speech is of utmost importance and CANNOT be limited to “30 days before an election.” It is his property and his flag, fly it freely and with pride.
New Jersey? But of course....
Only sadomasochists must live there.
It still is. I’ve lived in NJ most of my life (except for my military stint) and I never knew Monmouth U was a private school. Always thought it was a state school. Would never pay $30K per year to go there, but I guess somebody does. On the positive side, it’s pretty much across the street from Monmouth Park Racetrack.
How is flag “political signage”?
The ordinance must have definitions, and I doubt a flag is considered signage.
“Monmouth Park Racetrack.”
OT: Made the entire 60 day season there one year circa 1970. Love the place. Better than a summer job!
Finally made it to Del Mar last year. Saw Nyquist win the race of the day. Off its Florida Derby win this past weekend, obviously the horse to beat the first saturday in May.
Two old ladies of racing lore.

WTF??? The only possible rationale would be HOV by-laws, but I’m not seeing any of that in this story. What a miserable ****ing town to live in if that’s a local ordinance...
Ditto here.
“for illegally posting political signage more than 30 days before an election
Sorry, but I think the Founders intended for citizens to have these rights.
What’s “illegal” is the prohibition of political signage.
Take the issue to SCOTUS.
The name of that community should be changed to "Stalin City." I don't care WHO that homeowner supports in this election... that kind of restriction is off the rails and should be vigorously fought.
