State Department: Don’t Ask Hillary Aides About Classified Info in Lawsuit

Lawyers object to any attempt to ask Huma Abedin, Cheryl Mills, and others about how information was handled—and are dead set against Clinton testifying.

Lawyers for the State Department want to limit the types of questions that a watchdog group can ask former aides to Hillary Clinton, and potentially the former secretary of state herself, about her creation and use of a private email system while she was in office.

The department asked a federal judge Tuesday night to grant “limited discovery” to Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog group that wants to depose some of Clinton’s closest associates and staffers.

State’s lawyers proposed that the group only be allowed to ask questions about “the reasons for the creation of the clintonemail.com system,” and not about how classified information was handled on the system or any issues related to protecting it from hackers.

Look, hackers are going to hack their way in -- what difference does it make The question is, how much would they pay to save themselves the time? Taking the money always worked for Bill when he had secrets rich foreigners wanted, and we still left the White House flat broke. Who knows where it goes?

When did “classified material” ever mean anything to the Obonzo regime? I thought that was what this investigation was all about.

If the law were applied as it should be, a lot of State Department personnel ... and not just the lower ranks, are also in jeopardy for mishandling classified information & could face fines/jail time. Hilly has sucked them down into her gaping black hole of illegality and they are desperate to keep her out, thus ‘saving’ themselves. Both judges are pretty pissed off at this point with the government shenanigans to date so hopefully, they’ll not be compliant with State’s wishes.

Isn’t it cute how the DoS is running interference for Her Highness?

That’s so wonderful. Good to see she has friends, I thought she was so lonely.

I don’t know - the first problem is finding someone who is willing to charge them at all. There is plenty under the law that is applicable. Patrick Kennedy at State has been in full panic mode for a year now - I’d like to see that rotten you-know-what crack & spill his guts big time. He’s up to his eyeballs in Benghazi blood, too.

Not sure why they’re worried. I’m sure all they will ask is how they can help Hillary’s campaign, and perhaps how they can get themselves invited to some of Hillary’s glamorous parties and events. Perhaps they’ll also hand Hillary some of their opposition research files on Trump.

Good comment! You have a good view of what goes on inside government agencies. They circle the wagons to protect their own people, who they fear may rat out on the higher ups if they come under scrutiny. They are afraid things might unravel, hence the endless stream of legal shenanigans.

This is an illegal government of criminals: Big criminals, medium criminals and little criminals. They will all protect each other as much as they can. What a pathetic joke on those who sacrifice(d) for this country.

Those who have sacrificed so much for this country were expected to have courage and honor. It was all about duty and country. The bureaucrats, apparatchiks, and sleazy politicians who benefitted their sacrifices are nothing but a bunch of self-serving, dishonorable criminals.

What a pathetic joke on We the People (especially for those in the military).

Just ask anyone under the ‘watchful eye’ of the IRS as they see Sharpton, Rangle, Geitner, Clinton, etc.

I’d say the same re: Patreus, but he seems to have ‘taken one for the team’.

2 Americas: We the People and the those the rules/law does not apply.

“Meanwhile, FBI Director James Comey told reporters in Buffalo on Monday that he was in no rush to complete the investigation, which he said could extend past the Democratic and Republican conventions.”
