It may turn out the economy did not grow at all in the first quarter.
Trade data released Tuesday show the U.S. deficit widened more than expected to $47.1 billion in February and was a bigger drag on growth than expected. It's the latest economic metric that chiseled away at the tracking model for first quarter growth.
The median of economists who participate in the CNBC/Moody's Analytics Rapid Update is now 0.5 percent for tracking GDP growth, down from 0.9 percent last week. Their average forecast for growth is 1.1 percent.

Amidst horrid inflation, ugly interest rates, true disastrous unemployment figures, etc....WHAT ECONOMY ???
Unexpected.
We haven’t had real growth in, what, about 10 years now?
I sure hope Trump can turn this around. I worry about the future for my grandchildren.
May not have?! Let me assure you, it didn’t! It actually contracted.
que Gomer Pyle
any number reported as less than 1% is bogus
Meanwhile the ‘economists’ who all predicted amazing growth this year are busy today bashing Trump for his economic predictions.

8 years of this magic negros horse shit sure has done us good.
Mookabooking idiot dumbass that obammy is.
Here in the northeast the only economy that is growing is the false welfare/disability economy and the drug trade.
First of the munt or mother’s day as it was once known. And the hustle and bustle of spending someone else’s money is in full tilt. Stimulating the economy, out and about and burning gasoline. New car (pickups too!),pretty clothes, telephone yea got two. Money burning their pockets won’t get most of the people people out of bed by 10 all day breakfast legislation next.
False economy is in my way.
We experience “mothers day” in our supermarkets because we border the Newark NJ food desert (thankfully separated by a river); I actually schedule shopping around that. As an early bird, I can really go any day (we have a 24 hour supermarket); if you’re out by 6:30 am you’ll never rub elbows with them.
Yep ain’t it great ain’t it grand../s
Supermarkets advertised all night hours at the first of the month when the 4 billion dollars a day redistributive presents began. The sudden influx of money would clean off the shelves of the grocery store. Then the redistributers of the redistribution redistributed the spread of
wealth over more time according to the social security number of the giftee.
Early birding works for me too although I have occasionally stop in at the sole remaining white Caucasian owned convenience store for a midday cup of coffee and see beer and lottery ticket embibbers qued by our giverment. Give me a break.
I’ve described on other threads multi-generational Welfarian caravans, where the mother leads filling the carts, a daughter acts as the “trailer hitch” between the two carts (and fills the second as the mother passes things back over the full first cart, and grandma brining up the rear, leaning on the back of the second as much for support as to provide locomotion...
I would never enter a supermarket or the local Wal-Mart after 10 am (I’m usually there much earlier, though I rarely go to Wal-Mart); it just isn’t worth it...
