Here’s a simple question that desperately needs an answer.
Donald Trump won the Arizona primary in a landslide, 47.1 percent to Ted Cruz’s 24.9 percent, giving the GOP front-runner all 58 of that winner-take-all state’s delegates.
Right now, the Cruz campaign is engaged in a “furious” on-the-ground campaign in Arizona – and in other states won by Trump, including Louisiana, Georgia and Tennessee – to convert Trump delegates into Cruz delegates on a second ballot, should there be a contested GOP convention this summer.
The question is: Is this moral?
Trump calls it “crooked as hell.” But let’s back up a little.
As the Washington Examiner reported Monday, in a story headlined “Cruz snaring Trump’s Arizona delegates” and posted in the lead position of the Drudge Report:
Sen. Ted Cruz is out-hustling Donald Trump and looks set to ensure many Arizona delegates will defect to him in a convention floor fight.
The Texas senator, who ever since Iowa has played a stealthy ground game in contrast to Trump’s chaotic populism, is taking steps to snatch the Republican presidential nomination from The Donald at the convention in July.
The New York businessman easily won last month’s Arizona primary taking 47 percent to Cruz’s 25 percent, scooping up all 58 of the state’s delegates. That’s nearly 5 percent of the 1,237 Trump needs for the nomination, and they’re tied to him on the first ballot.
But Cruz, exploiting deep opposition to Trump among grass-roots Republicans, has been far more active in Arizona than Trump, insiders say. He’s recruiting candidates for the available 55 delegate slots, that along with the other three delegate positions filled by party leaders, would be allowed to vote for him in a multi-ballot contested convention.

He’s taking whatever he can for himself by whatever means necessary just like he did to Carson in Iowa.
He might be able to sleaze Carson’s voters in Iowa, and he might be able to disrespect the choice of voters by sleazing delegates.
But he most certainly cannot sleaze my vote in the general.
Ted Sleaze can go to Hell.
And he will lose again and with him so will America.
I certainly know that Cruz is one of the biggest frauds to ever come down the pike.

Ted thinks he is smart and knows the rules and thinks he’s going to win by the rules since he can’t win at the popular vote ballot box

And the people who write the rules don’t like him and are using him until he gets too cocky and inconvenient

So you’re saying that Trump’s “billions” haven’t afforded him any top-notch campaign staff? How come?
You don’t understand conventions. Candidates attempting to sway the delegates is how they have always operated. Unless the law in your state binds the delegates to vote a certain way, they are free agents, free to be lobbied by anyone. Both you and your candidate have the right to lobby the delegates or support people to run as delegates.
Have we always had elected GOP leadership meeting in secret with rich DEMOCRATS? Of course not. You presume this has been a fair fight and it has not been.
So say Cruz steals the nom from Trump. Then Trump pushes the GOP destruction button on his phone. What has Cruz gained? Nothing. Except a dogfight in 2018 to keep his Senate seat. The bottom line is Ted Cruz is never going to be POTUS and the sooner Cruzers realize that the better for everyone.
I tend to think of them as Loyalists. They are loyal to the status quo.
Much like those in Ireland were loyal to the crown-or even those in the colonies who were loyal to the crown during the revolution.
Loyalists will never submit, since they think of themselves as above it all. They have a type of messiah complex.
If they change the rules, Cruz will be standing shoulder to shoulder with trump in protest.
I realize you don’t watch Cruz anymore but he has been very clear about it.
That was then, now I know that it was a setup, Mitch McConnell and Cruz devised. McConnell is supporting Cruz's campaign.

The entire Cruz -vs- McConnell dust-up was a staged event for public consumption in order to hoodwink conservatives. When you take a good look at everything newly known about Cruz, there’s a darn good reason to believe “constitutional Cruz” was a fabricated construct.
Worked for George W. Bush.
Was John Boehner’s attorney.
Married a Bush alum.
Wife connected to Council of Foreign Relations and Goldman Sachs.
Was Vice-Chair of NRSC when Thad Cochran re-elected
Ran for Senate with sketchy financials.
Refuses to release his campaign loan information to FEC.
Hired Neil Bush.
Hired entire Bush financial team.
Played strategic hide/cover with TPA/TPP.
Supported the unconstitutional Corker/Cardin amendment
Hired Phil Gramm as an advisor.

There’s a very reasonable case to be made that Ted Cruz’s opposition to ObamaCare was total phony bologna. So too was the government shutdown etc. There’s a heck of a lot more evidence that Senator Ted Cruz was acting a part to build up a false appearance of being an “outsider”. The reality is, it looks like the junior Senator Ted Cruz has hoodwinked everyone. He was always an “insider“.

If you didn’t like it you should have abstained from voting or voted third party.
Great idea. If the nom is stolen from Trump I’m looking forward to Trump endorsing 3 party candidates. There are going to be A LOT of unemployed GOPers should the lemmings follow the Cuban-Canadian over the cliff.

After your observations of Cruz’s personality traits I’m assuming you have seen those uncut “Cruz directed” family political ads? Those videos are odd... to say the least.
I wonder if he thinks he’s some sort of actor and he changes character as needed?

No, I’m not saying that. Trump has done an excellent job with his campaign. You may have forgotten, but he’s actually winning. The difference is, that while Trump has some good people working for him, he’s ultimately in charge. Being that he’s never done this before, there is a learning curve. But he’s a quick learner.
Cruz relies on hardened party insiders to handle his campaign. They may have no concern for the will of the people or the best interests of the country, but they have learned a few dirty tricks over the years. In spite of that, I don’t think their sleaziness is going to be enough to defeat Trump, but we’ll see.
Jeff Sessions is on the Trump team. As compared to Neil Bush, Glenn Beck... now, what was it you were trying to say?
Ah yes, Senator Sessions. The fine conservative Senator was recently called a prostitute by National Review for endorsing Trump. That same rag has wholeheartedly now endorses Ted Cruz. Lay down with dogs, get up with fleas seems to apply here, IMO.
