For evangelical voters, it wasn’t supposed to be this way. Not in Georgia, at least. When Russell Moore, president of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, the policy arm of the Southern Baptist Convention, first heard that Governor Nathan Deal had vetoed a controversial religious-liberty bill, his phone exploded with text messages. HB-757 was seen by many as a modest attempt to safeguard religious freedoms, stating, for example, that pastors could not be forced to perform same-sex weddings. Naturally, faith leaders across the state were furious, and Moore quickly became a sounding board.

The various groups making up the Democratic party do not stab each other in the back as the Chamber of Commerce types has done to SoCons. The pathetic part is when the corporate lobby does not suffer any consequences as the GOP politicians answer "how high" when the lobby commands "jump".

Exactly!

IF they would read God’s Word...they should shutter when they read the part....choosing Money as their god....that is exactly what they are doing letting Disney and other corporations rule. The film industry with millions to offer state budgets is now holding conservative states in their evil sway.

Nathan Deal is a Democrat who runs on the Republican ticket because its easier to win. He is not a republican in any way, shape or form. The only republican characteristic he possesses is a rubber spine.

The article says that Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle supports the bill. Assuming that GA is like most states, where the Lt. Gov. becomes Acting Governor when the Governor travels outside of the state, then the solution is simple: Wait for Deal to go on a three-day trip to another state (or, even better, to another country), have both houses re-pass the bill quickly and have Cagle sign it into law before Deal returns to the state. If Deal wants to govern like a Democrat, then the GOP legislature should treat him like one.
