The article is only stating the obvious. It’s only not been an issue because usually one candidate has acquired a large majority of delegates before the convention. But it’s the delegates that always pick the nominee. That’s nothing new.
American voters matter about as much as the votes of Soviet peasants in the 1950s.

That is true. As a long time republican and conservative, I will not vote for the party of Whigs. I used to be a financial supporter of the RNC and like most on this forum, would vote with the candidate ‘they’ decided like a sheep. Hear now, Republican Whigs, your party will cease to exist if you do this. I will write in whomever I truly believe and I will be damned if I will put one cent into Carl Rove’s or Boener’s pockets ever again.
