The National Enquirer's name in journalism is synonymous with factually unsupported drivel of the lowest kind. It is a sacred truth that no responsible journalist would reference the kind of garbage found in this tabloid.
But somehow it's perfectly appropriate for the same responsible journalists to report the sleaze over and over, emphasizing, of course, that the source is the awful National Enquirer.
This is what the networks have done to Sen. Ted Cruz, who the Enquirer recently claimed had affairs with five secret mistresses, including Trump's spokeswoman Katrina Pierson. The unsubstantiated smear should have never seen the light of day. Instead, it became national news. It began with ABC and NBC on Friday March 25. CBS followed on Saturday. From Friday through Monday, the networks reportedly devoted 15 minutes and 27 seconds of airtime to this character assassination campaign that's supposedly pushed by former Trump advisor Roger Stone and published by a rag that coincidentally has also endorsed The Donald.

They are also two-faced on another level. In October 2007, the National Enquirer began reporting that John Edwards was allegedly cheating on his cancer-stricken wife with an unnamed campaign staffer. But Edwards was a Democrat, so none of the three networks or the national newspapers touched it.

They all knew about Bill Clinton and his intern and they ‘circled the wagons’ with a wall of silence for months.
Jonathan Edwards was granted the same preferential treatment for nearly four months to protect his name. Hunter’s pregnancy ruined it.
Tiger Woods was protected from his daily indiscretions by the sports media.
The National Enquirer has John Edwards’ head on their trophy wall in addition to other public figures who did the same thing initially, ‘deny deny deny’ and for being such a bright fellow as everyone says Cruz is, it is surprising that he is emulating those initial reactions as well.
a. “I have never been unfaithful to my wife Heidi”
b. “I have never had an affair, or a mistress nor mistresses”
c. “I demand an immediate apology and retraction from the National Enquirer or I direct my legal team to begin proceedings against their publication”
That’s all Cruz had to say from the very beginning, and this story would have gone straight to the back page. Instead, Cruz started blaming “Trump, Trump, Trump” and his $500,000 mouthpiece iSnarly Fiorina is letting him hide in her skirts while she mouths the same scripted weasel-like lawyer speak.
What a crock. There have been plenty of times they have been right, and put out true stories when other media wouldn't touch it (John Edwards, Gary Hart, etc.) "Responsible journalists" have won Pulitzers for stories covering up Soviet genocide in the Ukraine (NY Times), made up stories about the CIA using poison gas on Laotians (CNN), and promoted fake National Guard documents as real (CBS). The fact that it's in the Enquirer doesn't make it a fake anymore than being published in the left-stream media makes it true.
How about no one likes Cruz as a colleague? That’s maybe worse than not being able to keep it in your pants.
I’m watching Ted Cruz beclown himself on Foxnews now. Judging by some of his statements, perhaps the NE will reveal that Trump is a reptilian space alien? That’s as true as their BOGUS Cruz “mistress gate” bullcrap.
