Having watched Cruz's opening speech to Liberty University, I just wonder what sort of idiot did not see this coming miles and miles away.

Obviously, the entire southern Bible Belt (excepting Texas, because they are "special"; bless their hearts) recognized Cruz as the smarmy, fake, lying, cheating, stealing, fraudulent POS that he actually is.

For those still supporting Cruz, well, bless your little heart, too.

Plenty of time to do that after he is elected.

Not sure if putting all of his bimbos under oath would be something he would want. Not to mention Hotel receipts etc. Could get a bit messy if he is not clean.

The 500K should sink him if anyone was curious.

Pray America wakes

I am always laughing at how the media and FR have misread the national enquirier story.

Ted can’t win a case against the National Enquirier even if he is totally innocent.

The National Enquirer didn’t say they found evidence of Cruz having affairs.

They didn’t even say that they confirmed any part of other peoples investigations into Cruz’s affairs.

They didn’t even say that Cruz had an affair at all!!!!!

They said one unnamed source claimed 5 women are being investigated. That’s it!

In other words they reported a rumor as a rumor.

If there is no truth it they can just say their source lied to them. They have no legal risk at all!

The idea that Cruz must sue to prove his innocence is absurd. There is nothing to sue over.

OK, I'm trying to analyze without prejudice here.

It looks difficult for Cruz to sue since the NE didn't claim Cruz has had affairs, nor did NE claim to have any evidence of affairs. (This point seems to be overlooked). The NE reported that there are rumors and claims by others that Cruz has had affairs.

Cruz was allegedly seen having lunch twice a week with a woman of questionable reputation, shall we say. OK, where's the evidence of that? There is none that I've seen. And what would that prove if true? Nothing untoward. It would prove he had lunch with someone on a regular basis.

If this woman is real, and they were seen so often, why no photos showing them together? What's her name, and has she been convicted of prostitution? Maybe Cruz was counseling her to give up her life of prostitution. I know, that sounds funny, but there's as much evidence to support that as there is to support a sexual affair.

The idea of 5 affairs is really hard to believe. Multiple women are extremely difficult to keep up with when one is single and I have some experience in that matter from my younger days. This is a man constantly in public and very busy. How would he make time for that much dallying? So, what we have is gossip. That may be enough to sink him, but that's really all there is so far, gossip that may or may not be true. For me this all means: wait for real evidence.

Terrible advice by DeLay. I didn’t read the whole lurid story, but from what I saw, the National Enquirer played the old game of reporting that rumors say “x,y,z”. Since various sources aver they were approached by political operatives pushing the Cruz affair story, N.E. has an affirmative defense (reporting that there were rumors was factual, whether the rumors were true or not). Cruz would lose a libel case, even if he never had sex in his life, and afford the media opportunities to rehash the whole thing. And libel suits can backfire badly — reference Oscar Wilde.

Advice from a non-Cruz fan who hates sleaze, (assuming Cruz knows he’s not guilty):
1) Deny it vigorously and unequivocally;
2) Demand that anyone who maintains otherwise either present their evidence by noon tomorrow; or, take their slanderous dirty-tricks back into their snake pits and pull the holes in after them.
3) Any questions?

All Cruz has to do to make this go away is drop from the race. He can’t win, so he might as well drop.

Quote....
Tom DeLay tells Newsmax TV. “I think if he would sue The Enquirer right now,
it would put the story to bed,” DeLay, a Texas Republican, said Monday
end quote...

You can’t make this stuff up as it just writes itself....

“..put this story to bed...”

“He needs to get a hold of some people that know how to handle this kind of thing because this is so typical of politicians. They just wish that the story would go away,”

Isn’t Cruzifer a LAWYER???

Oh yeah, that’s why he is NOT SUING!

I figured the GOP would use this to deny Ted a spot on the Ticket. Delay just confirms it. The only way out for Ted is to join up with Trump.

Every time the Cruz campaign invokes Trumps names as the fault for this being a story, the story grows.

Dumbest strategy I have ever heard... unless he’s using the press to get coverage because he’s planning a mea culpa.
Not sure how that will go over when you’re the God candidate.
Plus it won’t end there.. the press will begin digging for real

I thnik it is too late now. Cruz has been so detestable that Trump voters will never vote for him. He could never win without them. His sex problems are minor compared to his behavior.

He will also lose all of the crossover votes. Lose in a landslide. Conservatives will be blamed.

He is going to get kicked to the curb very soon.

Say hello Hillary.

Constitutional scholar Cruz does not know this? And also - Trump did say he wants to strengthen libel laws against news organizations. So Cruz should support Trump and then sue.

I don’t know if the story is true or not, but even if it’s false, there probably is no case to make in court: Cruz would have to prove that (1) the Enquirer knew the story was false and that (2) Cruz himself does not have access to media to address the false claims made against him. IOW there is no case - the politicians calling for Cruz to sue surely know that.

This would have never been a story outside the supermarket checkout if Ted would have kept his mouth shut instead of immediately blaming Trump for it.

It seems all of Teds campaign is now nothing but blaming Trump for everything

Couldn’t DeLay have chosen a better metaphor than
“putting it to bed”? Freudian slip much?

Well Cruz has deflected and now tried to blame Trump but he has not denied. NE has more coming this week which will just cast further doubt on Ted. When a man cannot say “I have not cheated on my wife” its not a good sign.
