DeLay: Cruz Must Sue Over Affair Allegations or Risk Presidential Bid
newsmax.com ^ | Bill Hoffmann

Posted on 03/29/2016 11:43:14 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

The National Enquirer story that alleges Ted Cruz had extramarital affairs with five women is a "festering boil" that could sink the Texas senator's presidential bid unless takes immediate legal action to discredit it, former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay tells Newsmax TV. "I think if he would sue The Enquirer right now, it would put the story to bed," DeLay, a Texas Republican, said Monday on "The Steve Malzberg Show."

Cruz has angrily denied any truth to the Enquirer report and charges that Republican presidential front-runner is behind it — an allegation Trump strongly denies.

"He needs to get a hold of some people that know how to handle this kind of thing because this is so typical of politicians. They just wish that the story would go away," DeLay said.

I do care about the affairs. We've set a higher standard of moral behavior for our candidates, but they let us down, every time. That doesn't make it okay. Ted Cruz made the decision to present himself as the most devout Christian running for office.

The issue is hypocrisy. This with the "do what it takes to win" campaign do not show Cruz to be the candidate he originally campaigned as.

So you would vote for him if he admitted to infidelity and ran as a democrat?

I heard somewhere that it'll come out on Thursday.

If it's got a bombshell re: Cruz, I think I'll buy this issue as a keepsake.

Having watched Cruz's opening speech to Liberty University, I just wonder what sort of idiot did not see this coming miles and miles away.

Obviously, the entire southern Bible Belt (excepting Texas, because they are "special"; bless their hearts) recognized Cruz as the smarmy, fake, lying, cheating, stealing, fraudulent POS that he actually is.

For those still supporting Cruz, well, bless your little heart, too.

Plenty of time to do that after he is elected.

Trump has had affairs and is on his third wife. He brags about having sex with his friends wives. Maybe you think his honesty is refreshing, but it certainly isn’t a high standard of moral behavior. If I am presumptuous in assuming you are a Trump supporter I apologize.

Not sure if putting all of his bimbos under oath would be something he would want. Not to mention Hotel receipts etc. Could get a bit messy if he is not clean.

The 500K should sink him if anyone was curious.

Pray America wakes

I did not see it.

I always thought Ted was a little too preachy for my tastes.
But the first time I felt something was wrong, was when he buddied up with beck.

Like I am sure that the last person Cruz would confide in whether the allegations are true or not is Glen Beck. He is a walking idiot. Cruz would be more apt to pick a name from the phone book to confide.

My thoughts too. He was unable to answer a very simple question about if he had ever cheated on his wife.

That very fact he will not answer or sue and now hides behind the parting of words and Fiorina tells me is very much could be lying.

Also the fact he ran and does run on family values, honesty etc makes him yet another sleazy ivy league lawyer , elected official who is nothing more than a wolf in sheeps clothing

I'm thinking that IF Trump was catting around that the majority of it was done when he wasn't married. And likely decades ago. None of his wives have accused him of infidelity as far as I know. By all accounts his marriages ended because he worked too much.

I think beck knew all along (and mitt and...)
which would explain why he never ditched beck.

I am always laughing at how the media and FR have misread the national enquirier story.

Ted can’t win a case against the National Enquirier even if he is totally innocent.

The National Enquirer didn’t say they found evidence of Cruz having affairs.

They didn’t even say that they confirmed any part of other peoples investigations into Cruz’s affairs.

They didn’t even say that Cruz had an affair at all!!!!!

They said one unnamed source claimed 5 women are being investigated. That’s it!

In other words they reported a rumor as a rumor.

If there is no truth it they can just say their source lied to them. They have no legal risk at all!

The idea that Cruz must sue to prove his innocence is absurd. There is nothing to sue over.

Trump has admitted publicly that he cheated on Ivana with Marla Maples and even acknowledged that it could hurt him politically.
