Trump says allies must start paying for ‘American protection’
New York Post ^ | March 26, 2016 | Aaron Short

Donald Trump wants US allies to ante up if they want to continue under the “cloak of American protection,” according to his first detailed comments on his foreign-policy platform.

“We’re not being reimbursed for the kind of tremendous service that we’re performing by protecting various countries,” the Republican front-runner was quoted as saying.

The article mentions Saudi Arabia. It seems Trump is talking about oil rich middle eastern countries.

Trump is open to removing US forces from Japan and South Korea if they did not take on the cost of housing and feeding troops on American bases there, the report said.

He argued that it is getting expensive to keep “defending the world.”

Good for him. We’d have healthcare for all, better public transportation and subsidized college too if our taxpayers weren’t shouldering the expense of the defense of Canada and Europe.

We should be defending our own borders, because we are undergoing the largest land invasion in history.

Japan already covers the cost of American bases in Japan.

The problem is that if we remove US forces from Asia, China will quickly fill the vacuum.

It’s not a pleasant thing for many to hear as we have been brought up with the idea that American military might is the only thing holding the planet out of chaos.

But it needs to be said. This is costing us a lot of our cash. Money that these nations pour into socialist baloney because they don’t need to pay to defend themselves.

Some of the European nations have instilled into their people that they are safe because they aren’t “war mongers” like the U.S., when in fact they are safe because we take up the slack.

OMG, the left is up in arms b/c Donald mentioned he wants to trade oil to do the deal.

The left is spouting the usual agit/prop. Andrea Mitchell was apopletic.

Seems now we are “in danger” of not having enough oil.

The left is so stupid.....fact is, the US gets most of its oil from Canada (and elsewhere) ......not the Mideast.

Donald rightfully mentioned S/A ......b/c he implicitly knows this.

Well there will be no vacuum if those nations step up and fill it for themselves.

Europe and Asia too

Europe spends its money on welfare and transfer payments to millions of migrants and acts morally superior about it

They have that money because we pay for their defense

While I agree with Trump on this one, its "old news". I have watched a number of Trump's rally speech's and way back last fall he addressed that very issue. What took the media whores so long to bring it to the table?

Exactly! Seems they will have an important decision to make, or at least start to seriously start considering it. My money is on them choosing not wisely.
