The last few days I have been trying to track down this information that first appeared on twitter. Not believing a random twitter post that Jeff Roe secured the rights to the pic I searched in vain with no luck as to being able to verify the information.
I wrote GQ, CondeNast, WrightMedia, Corey Lewandowski and Rodger Stone with the question. No answer from anyone yet. Though with Corey and Rodger it was through twitter and I imagine they don't have time to go through all their messages. As for the others--Its the Easter weekend so I would have to wait until next week to verify
But in the above Trump this morning alludes to the fact that the Cruz Campaign got the rights to the picture. No doubt Trump called the photographer who is reported consulting an attorney. From Hollywood reporter:
"I never gave any approval for this image to be used anywhere else but GQ in the U.K. It puts me in a very weird situation as I have to protect my intellectual property and the privacy of Melania Trump," the photographer says, adding that he's already talking to his attorney. "I don't want those pictures to be used in certain ways which are inappropriate." --Antoine Verglas Photographer
If Trump's allegation is correct, The Cruz Campaign secured the photo of Melania and illegally passed it to another PAC to be used in the manner it was used. BOOM! The Cruz Campaign lied and continues to lie...Lyin' Ted..
aLLRIGHT BUT
now Donald should give up , go to serious things and let alone Cruz with that pathetic mess .
There is no time to lose
Cruz really should ditch the Bushies. I don’t think he will, but he could kill two birds with one stone. Get rid of people who ARE going to turn on him (just a matter of time), and blame those people for slimy behavior toward the spouse of his opponent.
He won’t
But he should.
Just saying.
(I’m a Trump supporter BTW)
This one time, I think Trump should move on and focus on real issues.
I don’t mean that he shouldn’t have responded. But now he said what he needed to say to clarify the situation and now it’s time for him to go back to focusing on issues important to the American people, as he has been doing.
I don’t think it was a problem to ‘get’ a copy of the picture, as it was available on the internet.
However, if we assume the photographer and GC were not paid for the ‘rights’ to USE the photo in a political AD, then Cruz’s PAC illegally used the photo and should be sued by GQ.
What a lier
Wonder what the legal penalties are for this? Whole lot of fines at least, I’d imagine.
(If Trump’s allegation is correct, The Cruz Campaign secured the photo of Melania and illegally passed it to another PAC to be used in the manner it was used. BOOM! The Cruz Campaign lied and continues to lie...Lyin’ Ted)
Considering Jeff Roe from the Cruz campaign purchased the picture, BOOM! Conspiring with a PAC!
WRONG! Trump said "if from what I hear". That means he is just repeating the rumors spread about on the internet. I already told you I know for 1000% certainty that no one from the Cruz campaign obtained the rights for the picture/shoot from Wright Media. 1000% certainty! This is just Trump lying, when he could damn well verify that himself.
Of course, there's no proof Trump had anything to do with the National Enquirer running the story, either.
I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be a real roller-coaster ride. We shall see.
I’m trying to help you from setting up a HUGE plate of eggs from hitting your face. Take the hint/help.
Ted Cruz should meet with Donald Trump.
Sunkenciv has the link for Roe buying the photo from GQ. He posted it yesterday.
I’m something of a Trump supporter, but I have a problem with some of the purported backstory on this. The photographer owns the photo, the model owns her image, the company that paid for the photo acquired rights to use the photo or photos containing her image in a manner defined under contract, and both get paid when it’s used. That’s how it works.
For this photo to have been used in a manner detrimental to Melania Trump, there was a contract violation, of that I’m sure. But, on the other hand, if these photos were viewed as problematic, Donald Trump could have bought out all rights to them and prevented this.
I’m beginning to think someone just pulled it off the internet or scanned a page from the magazine, at this point. Not legal, they’re going to be sued.
I hadn’t thought about that but there is a copyright issue
a photo taken by professional photographer of a professional model....
then used by a pac which is also a business financial interest
so none of this is fair use public domain
this is not something you just grab from the internet and modify to tease somebody
so there’s going to be a paper trail... there has to be a paper trail
And don’t think the leftist feminists are going to use this against Trump.
Is it possible that someone had a back copy of GQ? It’s not like the photo was hidden. I remember seeing it on newsstands when it was the current issue. But, then again, I’m old.
Gwjack
Pitiful. Not a sliver of evidence. Just ‘errr, uhhh, if Trump’s allegations are correct’.
You are just another clueless Trumpkin peddling bologna.
Even if Cruz WAS responsible, who gives a crap? She was a model. She got naked. The world has seen it before. And Trump had no problem with her nudity before, he married her in spite of it, is openly unashamed of it, but only now, running for office, he’s pissed off? Why don’t you sit back and honestly ponder that for a while....
From what I hear!. This is the sleaze who might become the next president of the United States. From what he hears? From whom? What evidence does he have for his assertion?:
he and his campaign went out and bought the cover shoot.
We should not have to rely on what Donald Trump "hears", if Donald Trump makes a flat assertion he should be able to prove it.
But note how the sleaze artist works: in the very next breath he says:
if from what I hear, he was the one, or his campaign bought the rights and give it to the super PAC.
Now we are not sure whether was Ted himself or Ted's campaign that Donald Trump "heard" bought the photos. When Donald makes things up he should at least rehearse story first.
Finally, Trump alleges that Cruz, or his campaign-whichever entity Trump decides he "heard" is involved-gave it to a super PAC, thus committing a federal crime.
The sleaze merchant has no proof, of course. But that was never Trump's style and certainly not a concern of his supporters.
But the sleaze does not stop there. Trump is a vulgarian who does not even get it that it is inappropriate for the first lady of the United States of America to be appearing nude on magazine covers. That is not "fine" it is a "very strong" act of sleaze which already has compromised our country's image around the world.
Good work.
And Lyin’ Ted is supposed to be such a brainiac. The guy could screw up a cup of coffee.
