Defense Secretary Ash Carter used his personal email account for government business for nearly a year, until December 2015, when news reports revealed the practice, according to hundreds of Carter emails released by the Defense Department.

The 1,336 pages of emails and attachments from Carter's personal account were released late Friday in response to Freedom of Information Act requests by The Associated Press and other news organizations. None contained classified information, and most pertained to routine business such as scheduling and logistics.

When the New York Times was first to report Carter's use of a personal email account, on Dec. 17, Carter aides said his actions were a mistake and that he had quit the practice.

Carter told CBS News correspondent Charlie D'Agata in December that he never sent anything classified via his personal account, but that he did "occasionally" send "administrative" emails to his "immediate staff."

On what server were they contained? Did Carter also have a government email account? A SIPRnet account? A JWICS account? Were there any remnants of TOP SECRET SAP data in any of the emails? Was ANY of his emails classified?

This is all just ‘misery loves company’ and ‘see? He did it, too!’ .....’a bunch of Presidents got BJs from underneath their desks.....’

Diversionist crap. Deflection.

“SQUIRREL!!!!!”

It seems our entire government is a ship of fools piloted by the former captain of the Titanic.

This would imply that the "top fool" actually had previous experience running something.

The only thing the arrogant one ever ran was his mouth!

Hope we don’t nuke some poor third world country by “mistake”. :-(

You forget the top fool is on his second hitch. He had at least 4 years experience in running the ship aground.

Given the arming of al Qaeda (”rebels”),
given Benghazi and its murders and coverups,
given the bombing of the Pentagon on 911,
and given this,
this is either TREASON or a psychiatric examination
would be logically required of the “Defense” Sec.

What about the murder of a significant number from Seal Team 6 after the OBL raid?

Exactly. This is a smokescreen for Hillary.

Carter could be a louse, I don’t know. But it’s almost certain he’s smart enough to not bridge the air gap.

Only one high-ranking person was dumb enough AND evil enough to leave classified info in the clear.

There is no way to accidentally send email from a classified system to a less classified system, and only a handful of people can do that.

When you get access to government systems, you are told not to use personal email on the system. Recently, some of the more popular email services have been blocked, at least on the network I use at work.

I'm thinking that maybe Carter did not read all of the "Acceptable Use Policy" prior to signing it. It says the restrictions on personal use of the government system.
