Why so many voters are drawn to Donald Trump
Los Angeles Times ^ | March 26, 2016 | Steve Lopez

The way the presidential campaign is shaping up, Ventura musician Jon Gindick may do something he's never done before.

"I've never voted for a Republican," the registered Democrat told me.

"I like Trump."

A waiter told me he thought Trump's trade restrictions would create more jobs at higher wages. A couple wearing matching red, white and blue shirts told me their healthcare costs had tripled under Obamacare — a program Trump says he'll shred.

To Gindick, Trump's remarks about criminals coming across the border were refreshingly honest, and not at all a condemnation of all immigrants or Latinos in general.

He thinks Trump's critics misrepresent him, that they're unfair in calling him a racist.

"I saw it as a huge lie being repeated by the GOP establishment and Democrats," he said.

Very astute and accurate observation.

When the ship is sinking, anyone who can help man the pumps is welcome. America is sinking! Wake up!

Where’s Trump’s record of preventing America from sinking? I mean what legislation has he sponsored or voted on that was a plus for the country? Other than campaign promises. And can you answer these questions without bring up other candidates or making me the issue?

I mean we do know he’s donated to Schumer and Pelosi and bragged about having a working relationship and being able to make deals with them. Two, BTW, that gave been instrumental in putting this country in its mess

Trump has created more jobs and income for other people than the entirety of the blood suckers in the government have done. He has created REAL wealth for himself and others. What has Cruz ever done but sign the back of hhis government check and sell his votes to the highest bidder?

DT is not my ideal candidate but, then, Ike is not running this year.

Here's what I'm telling people about Donald Trump:

Trump is the only shot anybody has, any time soon, at a president who isn't owned by Wall St. fat-cats. The rest, both parties, are totally owned as Bill Bennett notes and, in my view, one more Wall St. owned presidency would finish this country.

Somebody like Cruz or Rubio would have to totally sell out to get anywhere close to the white house.

Trump has not come down on the wrong side of a meaningful issue so far to my knowledge. Issues he's on the right side of include the Russia/Putin issues and the greentard/Malthusian issues and he's unique amongst all candidates in having both of those right.

He is the only shot you will ever have of seeing those 28 pages of that 9/11 report.

As Justin Raimondo at antiwar.com notes, DT's instinctive dislike for frivolous uses of the US military goes all the way back and is not just words which he has started mouthing for this particular campaign. Any of he other candidates, in my view, would be likely to get us into a major war.

The remaining big issue is that of money and banking and that should be an easy sale for people like Ellen Brown. Trump has spent 40 some years amassing a personal fortune while simultaneously watching bankers walk off with the lion's share of every deal that ever goes down other than cash on the barrel head; he could not possibly harbor any love for those bastards.

In fact the bankers have just now declared total war on the guy:

At this juncture, we're snaffed so badly that I'm not interested in a candidate who DOESN'T scare the idiots. This fear is behind the tidal wave of propaganda against trump, even as it is behind the propaganda against Vladimir Putin and Russia. The 54 private jets at the offshore resort a couple of weeks ago were about money; nobody gets that worked up over ideology.

How does the party of Franklin Roosevelt come to a point at which all they can offer the American people is a choice between a witch and a bum, some ask??

The dem party has abandoned any thought of competing in any sort of a marketplace of ideas and tries to win via technique and gaming, including attempting to simply import voting blocks for themselves and, sooner or later, that sort of an approach to politics drives brains and talent out of the picture; there simply isn't any sort of natural selection for brains and talent within the party under those circumstances.

Well,
1) you failed to answer my question and
2) you failed to do it without mentioning another candidate

Not that I was really expecting anything different anyways but I thought I’d get lucky at least once

Oh well.

This were Trumpers all eventually end up when you ask a legit question.

They share the same characteristics as their candidate.

>>> When Democrats start to like our candidates all kinds of warning bells go off in my head.

I think we are in the midst of a national political realignment. No longer will the two sides (whatever their party name) be liberal and conservative, but I think that nationalist vs. globalist will be the defining breakdown for the next generation.

Einstein defined “insanity” as doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result.
Have WE become insane to think that electing MORE lawyers, politicians and theoretical academics to clean up the mess created by OTHER lawyers, politicians and theoretical academics will work?
The Presidency is called the EXECUTIVE BRANCH for a reason. While there MAY still be time to save what’s left of America – the IDEA – perhaps we should consider electing an ACTUAL EXECUTIVE who has built and run a successful BUSINESS ENTERPRISE?
THINK ABOUT IT!
(If you came out of the government school system, you may need some help with the process!)

I support Trump. People can say what they want about whether he is conservative but on trade, jobs, immigration, and national security there is no compare. His opposition to NAFTA and other horrible trade schemes has been there since the 80s. All else doesn’t matter. People who have jobs and earn their own money have the luxury of being conservative and building strong families focused on family values. People who see the only option as more government handouts aren’t going to worry too much about things like the constitution or faith. Their God is government, their priests are their political representatives and they go to church everyday in front of their tv.

If we don’t fix the invasion and the stop the bleeding of jobs nothing else will matter. The America we love will be lost to history.

The way Trump talks at his rallies is what first got me interested in him. The stilted, ponderous, nasal voice of Cruz is what alerted me he’s a phony.

The Milo Yianappolis engagements where people shouted down the SJW with “trump, trump, trump” shows that he had become a symbol to standing up to the cry-bullies.
What was surprising was the right wing Belgium rally where they chanted his name in response to leftists trying to shut down their Islamic immigration protest.
When people use your name worldwide to protest liberal fascism, you’ve got pretty good brand recognition.

Trump knows that the “conspiracy theories” are true, but he also knows that the steeple can absorb just a tiny nibble of the truth at a time.

I know from experience that if you introduce the typical steeple to too much of the truth, “conspiracy theory” LEAPS to their lips.

Anything beyond “Democrats care about people, Republicans don’t care about people, you can’t make generalizations about Muslims, the government cares about me,” is a “conspiracy theory.”

I like Trump because he said he would make me proud to be an American. I miss that. NONE of the others said that. AFAIK all the nuanced statements and reasoned arguments I’ve heard from the others can be written small on three sheets of TP and then put to good use, that is all they are worth. I want to be proud of my country. Other people can take care of their own country, I have but one and it comes first. I believe Donald can do what he says. I’ve had enough of weasel words.

It appears to me that the Dems (and their media) know exactly what they are in for in November - and are fighting overtime to prevent it.
