On Tuesday the Iowa House concurred with the Senate, and a bill to allow the sale of suppressors in the state is now on its way to Governor Terry Branstads (R) desk.
Titled the Hearing Protection Act, the bill focuses on the health benefits suppressors provide by protecting the hearing of people who shoot on a consistent basis. According to NRA-ILA the bill also looks at the benefits beginner shooters gain from a quieter shot and less recoil, therefore less flinch.

Aren't suppressors on guns a federal area of law?

Enough states have come to their senses regarding supressors. It would be nice if the Feds would stop making ownership so onerous.
To: blackdog
Yes, but 11 or so states still ban suppressors
That number is getting nearer to zero thankfully, as it should be

Paperwork is for the feds, not the state. Suppressors are an NFA type II devices which require a federal tax stamp and a lot of red tape.

Like I said; I live in Wyoming. We dont have to waste time with paperwork.
You go buy an oil filter and use an adapter to put it on your rifle and then do your thing. No one hears it and around here there’s no one to report it anyway. That’s kind of the point in living here.

Kind of a stupid risk to take; the penalty is 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if caught
All of that risk could be eliminated for a mere $200
I don’t like paying the stupid tax either, but no way in hell would I take such a risk

But, with a silencer on it the revolver only goes “fft”, and the semi-auto only goes “fft”! The movies said so!

I kinda enjoy driving from Denver to Wyoming to stock up on normal capacity magazines.

Pretty sad state of affairs that we’re supposed to live in fear of our government for exercising an enumerated and incorporated right.

I don't own any cans yet, but the new one from Ruger for 22LR has a reserved spot on the muzzle of my rabbit rifle. I want one for my 300 BLK as well. Not ready to put the money on ice for 6 months right now. My last Form 1 and Form 4 took 4 month and 5 1/2 months to process.
