MEMPHIS, TN - A violent sex offender was stopped by police with five children in his car—none of them were his.
Police said Jerome Sawyer, a registered sex offender who is listed as a violent sex offender for aggravated sexual battery, was stopped on Ridgeway Road south of Winchester Road for not having a seat belt.
Officers found two boys and three girls, ages five to 11, inside the car.
Sawyer told police he was on the sex offender registry for assaulting three children ages six and seven in 1999 and 1987.
Sawyer told police the children in the car were not his. He told police he had been at a park on the same property as Winridge Elementary.

Geez, I wonder how long he’s been picking kids up for. Thank goodness for the lucky police stop and they stopped him now.

The article never reports the obvious first question: What was he doing with all those unrelated children in his car?
The police stopped him about not having buckled his seat belt. Did they even ask him about everything else?
Maybe this report was written by a computer system.

I’d snip snip both his Achilles heels so he couldn’t run, let the general population know he was a cho-mo then toss him in the prison yard.
In the old days, he would have “tried to escape” on the way to jail, or possibly “grabbed for an officer’s firearm”, and they would have had no choice but to shoot him. There were a lot fewer problems back then with miscreants like this.

My first question was .. did the parents of these children even know they were missing ..???
And, since the driver volunteered the information about who he was and that the children were not his .. I would guess he was asked those questions because the policeman would probably have known who the guy was.
Of course the blowback from such vigilantism eventually reached modern law in the form of liberal provisions. So it was Pyrrhic.
And how did he either trap or lure the children?
It’s sad that there is such an increase in creepiness because now you can hardly afford to risk being misunderstood by a neighbor’s child. A greeting might end up with you getting investigated.
Good question. What his methods are in luring the children.
No matter what pretense he was driving the kids, it is Inexcusable. Currently I’m thinking that the kids weren’t lured but he was driving them. The news story doesn’t go into great detail and goes right to the salacious news.
Pedophiles can never be rehabilitated.
And who’s underwear was under the seat?
