Trump Could Make Life Hard for Burr in NC
Public Policy Polling ^ | 3/22/16 | PPP

Posted on 03/22/2016 9:03:01 AM PDT by Cyberman

PPP's first general election poll for the US Senate race in North Carolina shows the way Donald Trump could make life harder for other Republican candidates down ballot this fall.

The Senate race is tight, with Richard Burr holding just a 5 point lead over Deborah Ross at 40/35, with Libertarian candidate Sean Haugh pulling 7%. To put the current state of the race in perspective Elizabeth Dole led Kay Hagan by 5 points on our first poll after the primary in 2008 too, so Ross is starting her upset bid in a very similar place to where Hagan started hers....

We find that voters are less likely to vote for Burr by a 26 point spread if he supports Trump for President- doing that would make 48% of voters in the state less inclined to vote for the incumbent compared to only 22% who would be more likely to vote for him. That's a good early indicator of the trouble Trump poses for his party....

This article is so stupid and counter-intuitive. They say Trump will make life hard for Burr, but the poll finds Trump and Hillary in a dead heat. And a dead heat was what Romney and Obama found themselves in 2012! And don’t forget that a recent SUSA poll found Trump up 49%-42% over Hillary in NC.

Yes, all Burr has to do is sign on with Trump. Of course he would be in contention with the governor but we saw exactly how much sway she had in the primary.

If the GOP loses the Senate in 2016 as I have predicted they may its not Donald Trump’s fault.

I called Richard Burr after Ben Sasse attacked Trump and told him Ben just cost me to vote for the Democratic Senator Candidate and told Mark Meadows ( Cruz backer and Mark is a Cruz like friend don't trust him) I would not support him anymore.

Well, I voted for Brannon in the Primary.

I’m waiting to see what the GOPe does to Trump in the convention - and where Burr stands.

Burr is a big business, pro illegal alien GOPe guy. Looks like I’ll vote against Burr in the general election if he doesn’t come out of the closet for Trump.

This is one of the thing that the rommey/bush ‘Our Principles PAC’ is trying to do. They want to hurt Trump so bad, they can bring things like this up in the convention (and prior).

NC governor is Pat McCrory a he. And Richard Burr has been true GOPe in the Senate. While I don’t vote Democrat, Deborah Ross is truely nice person and was helpful to me in an issue when no one else in NC was. I would not blame Trump if Burr is voted out.

As a Congressman and then Senator Burr has consistently voted in favor of the one sided “free” trade agreements that decimated North Carolina’s textile, apparel and furniture industries. He is 100% a party establishment supporter and is a close friend of John Boehner who he got to know when they were both freshman Congressional representatives (Newt’s class of 1994).

This is the same Burr that voted to homosexualize the military. I wonder if he’s attended “Gay” pride day at Fort Bragg?

Perhaps if Burr wasn’t so “establishment” (50% ranking from Heritage Action), he might not be in trouble. Same thing for Ayotte (26%).

Burr has made life hard on himself by being a Washington insider lackey. Really had hoped he could get primaried.
