I thought it was funny. I’m not Mormon, BUT, my great-great grandfather married one of Joseph Smith’s widows. How’s that for a Kevin Bacon like connection? ;-)

because he appears to have zero respect for others’ religious beliefs. Trump knows his own religious beliefs are a fraud, and thinks the same about others.

he is a hypocrite. He didn’t like it when the pope questioned him on his faith. I am sure he will weasel out this and pretend it’s not a big deal.

On what basis does Trump question Romney's religion? On the basis that (R)Money is pure, unadulterated Satanic evil.

I grew up with many Mormon classmates in high school in Arizona. They were all good kids but they ranged from the-strict-to-the-not-so-strict when it came to their Mormonism.
I had more fun and great times with some Mormon buddies who were wild and crazy and didn't exactly follow the strict tenants of the church. Many of them were what we called "Jack Mormons" because they weren't exactly playing by the rules.
Dancing, drinking, messin' with the girls, were activities verboten but they got by with it anyway. Growing up with them, being Mormon just meant they went to a different Church than I did on Sundays. Otherwise, they were just one of the crowd.

The 47% remark was one of the most accurate things Romney ever said. If you think those votes are available to a conservative who wants to cut welfare entitlements, you’re wrong. Luckily we only need 50% + 1.

Mitt bowed to a Muslim. Would a real Mormom do that? Pretty fair question.

I don't see it the way you do. If just 10% of that 47% would respond to a positive message, that's about 5% of the population. In vote tally terms that's a lot.
There are more people than you'd suspect who are good, decent hard working people trapped in a life they didn't choose for themselves. And then there's senior citizens and impoverished veterans. Many are responding to Trump's message of bring the US back to where it was before things started falling apart.
Have you ever spent time with people who live in difficult environments? What many need is a message of hope and belief in them. Many or even most might be just fine with their handmeout lives, for sure. But many aspire to better lives if they're given the promise of a better future.

Let's face the fact that Donald Trump's middle name is Rickles and then maybe people can better understand him.

He’s making the point Mormons are successful often in business and Romney chokes in presidential runs so is he really a Mormon or he wouldn’t choke
It’s complimentary to Mormons
Denigrating to Mitt

Apparently this lost a lot of people. First he said he loves Mormons, then he asked if Mitt was one because he doesn’t love Mitt.

Trump is an equal opportunity religious questioner. Let's see he told Francis the Talking Mule to go back behind his 39 foot walled country and STFU; he said no more muslims until we can vet them, jabs the political Mormon, Mittens and soon will take a shot at the Jews at AIPAC Monday. Got to give it to Trump he gets them all. Since the press hates religious people or anyone with a moral and ethics compass, they can't attack Trump for his religious comments, they agree with him that religions are no good.
