PHOENIX Fearful of a Donald Trump nomination to lead the GOP, conservative leaders huddled privately in Washington on Thursday in search of a plan to stop the billionaire businessman. His Republican rivals braced for another Trump victory, this time in delegate-rich Arizona.
The GOP has an eager alternative in Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, yet some party leaders are exploring other avenues instead of rallying behind the fiery conservative, an ominous sign that Republican leaders deep dislike of Cruz complicates their overwhelming concern about Trump.
The establishment is like a wounded animal, now cornered, said Mark Meckler, an early leader in the tea party movement. They are terrified, irrational and flailing wildly.

Hey, what happened to McCain's slogan of "country first"?
Here you have a man running for "Country first" and the backstabbers come out like cartoonish Illuminati plotting against him.
May the Providence protect Trump and his family as he confronts these dark beastly forces.
For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together
No “Government of the people, by the people or for the people “ in dis chicken house!
From Psalm 71: A Prayer for Gods Protection
For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together
These guys can just appeal to people more with better ideas.
But that dont have that, so they “plot”.
These “fine” Republican leaders recently met with a bunch of Dem mega-donors on some island, plotting to stop Trump.
Conservative, the new buzz word establishment hacks.
yeah... like a crazed wounded RINO!!!
[”Establishment like a crazed wounded beast”]
Yes, yes they are. Which makes them dangerous.
Radio talk-show hosts are showing their true colors.
Which is why the Washington Post is suggesting that the state legislatures overrule the people and select their own slate of Electors to the Electoral College to stop Trump. It's perfectly constitutional, but politically dangerous.
I agree. Most of them are no Conservatives. This term has been so broadly used that it is even applied as to have lost any meaning. Saying somebody is a true conservative, real conservative, or just plain conservative means basically that they are to the right of the radical Sanders and Hillary.
The Establishment wishes they had Romney back, ya know, the same Mitt Romney who couldn’t beat Obama in 2012 when even a house cat could have beaten him..calling them the Establishment is a joke, they are Democrats, they voted for Obama in 2008 and again in 2012. They would be doing the same thing if Ted Cruz were leading in delegates, they are ALL about themselves
It is so ironic that this type of situation resulted in the overthrow of the Tsars, we live in unbelievable times.
They are criminals like the rats all in the same boat all on the gravy train sucking us all dry while the lie and deceive. If they try to t bone trump they will have hell to pay
Psalm 71
A commentator on FOX Business News said that if the GOPe tried to go to a brokered convention they would be stopped by a Trump Cruz team. I hope neither one of them screws that up.
Irony, my man, irony.
These aren’t conservative leaders. They’re a bunch of wanna-be’s no one has ever heard of. The press is only publicizing this because they haven’t any thing better to talk about.
For those paying attention, the term "Conservative" has been hijacked, and clearly become the new establishment buzz word in attempts to discredit Trump.
Where have all these "Conservatives" been for decades?
As if the establishment's career politician candidates have been a "conservatives" for the past 25 years. No one capable of critical thought buys that.
