WASHINGTON, D.C. (WBTV) - Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) cited a recent On Your Side investigation into problems with the VA Choice Program http://www.wbtv.com/story/31285298/veterans-families-call-wbtv-for-help-delays-at-va-medical-centers?clienttype=generic
in testimony before the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs on Tuesday.
Burr was testifying before the committee in support of legislation he introduced last week http://www.wbtv.com/story/31429194/burr-tillis-push-to-reform-va-program-highlighted-in-wbtv-investigation?clienttype=generic
with a group of Republican senators aimed at making changes to the Choice Program.
In his testimony, Burr cited the case of Marine veteran Jim Bancroft who told On Your Side Investigates about his problems receiving treatment by an outside provider through the Choice Program because the program's third-party administrator had failed to pay the private medical provider.

"This is just one example and why I am introducing the Veterans Choice Improvement Act," Burr said. "We must fix this and we must get it right for our veterans."
Later in his testimony, Burr said he was working with Democratic senators to come to an agreement on legislation to address the Choice Program that would be included in a larger omnibus bill aimed at making improvements to the Department of Veterans Affairs.

I am one of the vets listed here and my name was read into testimony in the Senate.
I am just entering the system with my first appointment on the 24th and my first visit to my clinic physician on the 31st. I received the authorization code for this program but decided not to make it too complicated for them and just wait. Nothing I need right now, just wanted to get registered in the event.
My GP only charges $95 cash for an office visit and I know some people with insurance that are paying more for their co-pay.
Burr has not been much of people’s advocate during his term, but he did something good here. My son is one of the PTSD vets who uses care. I want to thank you for your service and love of country!
boy, do not wait more than 21 days for anything, call your congressman each and every time, the delays are sickmaking
1.5 years for a cyst in my liver
hernia
bone growth at l2-l3 the size of a jumbo frito chip
“Does it hurt? Well, lets hold off then...”
To me, it is just a formality to have my Obuttcare chit. I have found a way to pay cash for virtually everything being graced with very good health. The only thing I’ve had to be of a concern was at my last DOT exam, the blood sugar was up to 234. In just about a month, it is back down to the 110 area and just the other day it was 98. Took Metformin for 30 days and now added Glimepiride, watch what I eat and have also lost 15 pounds from 200 to 185.
I had a hernia repair that would have cost $60K for the insurance company with a $6K deductible if I were paying the $700/mo insurance rates. I got it all for $4200, cash. I am really looking forward to HSA’s coming back into fashion.
