The Mission is Hillary Country — But S.F. Has Love for Trump, too

Let's take a break from the violence now part-and-parcel of this year's presidential election to take a look inward — and see where San Francisco political donors are dropping their dollars.

Despite an endorsement from Mayor Ed Lee for Hillary Clinton, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has many friends in San Francisco. In fact, two of the highest-contributing ZIP codes in the country are in San Francisco: the Mission (94110), where Sanders has gleaned $59,649 in contributions, and the Castro/Noe Valley (94114), where denizens have written $52,109 in checks for the Bern.

That sounds great if you’re a Bernie Bro (or Sis). You can feel proud that your neighbors want the government to pay for health care and get rid of banks, all while paying for college, too. But they’re not game-changing dollar figures by any means. In fact, the Mission is still entirely Hillary country.

In 94110 alone, Hillary has netted $147,060. That’s a lot of greenbacks. Much more than Bernie’s top two San Francisco ZIPs combined. (If you’re interested in the culprits, start here).

Things just get worse for the Bern — like painfully so — if you add up the entire city. Millennial-age Berners may want to shield their eyes. In the overall treasure hunt, Clinton has unearthed $5,157,789 from San Franciscans while Bernie has scored just $670,238.

Dang. Oh, and in case that doesn’t hurt enough, Jeb Bush managed to find $642,000 from a bunch of suckers in the city.

There you have it: in terms of contributions, San Francisco prefers Jeb! to Bernie Sanders.

Ouch.

In fact, there are quite a few contributors who like Republican candidates. Marco Rubio pulled in nearly $400,000, Carly Fiorina netted $163,980, and John Kasich wooed $158,400.

We know what you’re thinking. The big blond pompadour in the room. The Donald. Steak connoisseur to the stars. As of March 7, San Franciscans have given Donald Trump $200 or more contributions totaling $9,425. Perhaps he plans to spend a month here before the election and that’s what his Airbnb in Saint Francis Wood goes for. Or perhaps the Trump disease has spread to every pocket of this country.

Obviously 9 grand is nothing when it comes to running for president, but it’s the symbolism here folks. Where the hell is this money coming from? We found some names and ZIP codes (remember, this is all public information).

It’s not a complete list, and some of the amounts are under $200, but these folks are living in a city where not a single elected representative is Republican, or conservative, and they are donating to Donald Trump:

Jennifer Vataru, 94147, $119 Gregory Reese, 94133, $250 Scott L. Robertson, 94118, $1,296 Alan Burradell, 94114, $205 Christopher Glassell, 94105, $109 Richard Wilson, 94104, $1,000

Hilariously leads with a sob statement about violence and closes with printing names of Trump supporters.

Remember when the Left used to praise dissidents?
