Florida's winner-take-all primary could kill Rubio's chances
AP Live 5 News ^ | 3/11/15 | BRENDAN FARRINGTON

Florida's winner-take-all Republican presidential primary was supposed to help former Gov. Jeb Bush or Sen. Marco Rubio.

That was the thinking when the GOP-dominated Legislature changed the state's primary date to the third Tuesday in March - the earliest date it could hold an election that will award all 99 Republican delegates to one candidate.

But that was before Republicans here even dreamed of - or had nightmares about businessman and reality TV star Donald Trump possibly winning the state. It was before Bush went from front-runner to dropout and Rubio began losing whatever momentum he had after poor debate performances. Now the very plan to wrap up the nomination for a favorite son could be the one that kills his campaign.

This presupposes Marco actually had/has a chance to start with. He is there to take votes from both Trump and Cruz now that Jeb has tanked and keep anyone on the R side from getting the magic number going into the nomination convention.

You’ve got it right, and he was never supposed to be anything but a “splitter” that would help Jeb! win but that plan didn’t work out quite right ;_)

Rubio “could have been a contender” in another 10 years if he’d built up his resume and actually showed up for work. He is probably the least qualified person ever to run for President with the support of a national party, and now his career will be spent on K Street or someehwere else where he can be richly rewarded for taking one for the team, but his political aspirations are nearly over.

I’d like to see Trump shut down K Street.

Well let me go out on a limb and predict that Rubio will NOT win Florida. My prediction is for either Trump or Cruz to win the state.

/not much of a prediction, I know

You can look at Rubio's rally two days ago as either his last rally of this campaign, or the first rally of his campaign for dog catcher of Hialeah.

Rubio helped himself a lot in Fla with his performance in the debate.
But he’s probably suffered too much from his earlier childishness to recover. Close to a million early voters had that childish image of him when they voted.

Karma is a beech. That one is gonna go down in Political Science history as one of the most bone-headed ploys ever. They never allowed for a Plan B.

Rubio was intended as a “not jeb” splitter. He was never intended as majority candidate.
