And it’s more clear than ever that Trump is anti-establishment.
Getting downright obvious to everyone.
He has plenty of funding without relying on the RNC.
The donor class is Lucy with the football and Cruz is Charlie Brown.
If Cruz wins the nomination, the donor class won’t give him a thin dime. The establishment ‘G’ OP has already undermined his eligibility. And then he’s vulnerable to senate-gossip slander.
Lastly, his consultants are DC beltway. The Establishment has access to them and knows how to push their buttons.
They asked themselves, ‘Who is easier to sabotage if he wins? Cruz or Trump?’
Beltway consultants always steer candidates clear of bashing a corrupt democrat. Weird how that works.
Have you ever tried to shove feeding hogs away from their trough of slop?
They put up a wicked fight.
This is that.
I would think they would move towards Kasich as the new Rubio before they move to Cruz. The establishment in the South though is not about to buck the strong support in the south for Cruz over Kasich in their efforts to dump Trump.None of it is working though because they are learning no one cares what they think.They are truly irrelevant as Mr Romney will attest.
Please correct me if I’m wrong ...
Ted Cruzs GOP campaign has received $37 million from just four donors.
The Wilks family of Cisco, Texas, New York hedge fund tycoon Bob Mercer, Texas energy investor Toby Neugebauer and Illinois manufacturing moguls Dick and Liz Uihlein.
~~~
I don’t believe they get much influence from those donations, but the Establishment thinks it has at least some claim on him. He was obviously their very last choice, however.
Why should he? Bill was term-limited out in 2001.
/sound of whip cracking
Trump is winning with a minority of Republican voters. If he does not get to 1237 delegates before Cleveland the convention will settle things.
After the first vote at the convention where the delegates go with the results of all the primaries and caucuses, Trump will still not have the 1237.
Then another vote is taken where the delegates are free to vote for whoever they please.
Thats when Ted Cruz gets the nomination, fair and square...as the two front runners either Trump or Cruz HAS to get it or there will be chaos.
So the GOP winning in November depends entirely on Donald Trump NOT getting the 1237.
Go Ted go!
$37 million from four multi-billionaires is like you or I sending $37 to the FReepathon.
An old saying: you are known by your enemies.
It’s not a perfect maxim, but it’s helpful.
The Establishment’s arch enemy is Trump, and they don’t like Cruz either for that matter. But Trump wins the grand prize.
Shameful.
Like I said, the Establishment is not at all happy with Cruz. But to him he’s the lesser of two weevils.
Austin Barbour was (is?) a senior advisor to Jeb and Mitt. Look for more dirty tricks on the radar.
Trump IS the donor class.
Why is it the benighted Trumpers think the best way to combat corrupt donors is to make one of the most corrupt donors president?
“anyone that can beat Trump, Ill support” - that means they will support Hillary in hopes she will beat Trump. They will work directly with Obama as well.
All these people have one thing in common - they all support “comprehensive immigration reform”. That is what this is REALLY about. Now we have a half-dozen Bush people, including even Bush family members, joining the Cruz team, and as this article says, Cruz now “touts” them. As if “how great it is”.
With their support and money, which is all money pushing “comprehensive immigration reform” (amnesty with no wall), why would Cruz tout them? He should be telling them to go to hell and take their money with them.
That means Cruz thinks he cannot beat Trump without them.
If he cannot beat Trump, he cannot beat Hillary. If he cannot beat Trump without the “comprehensive immigration reform” money, and he takes their support, he will support comprehensive immigration reform.
Once he takes their support, he will implode. He proves he has no path to the nomination by doing so, and the base will notice the wrong people at the wrong time right away. They will notice it and bail from Cruz and vote Trump.
All of this spells the end of Cruz, this is the first sign. His only hope of hanging in there for what it’s worth is to totally reject these people and openly disavow them like the KKK.
We are all watching.
Because he's taking on all the other donors by paying for himself.
