On Monday, the Utah Senate voted 19-5 in favor of legislation that would require doctors to administer anesthesia to babies during an abortion. The bill applies to abortions carried out any time after 20 weeks of gestation.
Sen. Curt Bramble, the bills sponsor, explains
This will require that if we are going to take the life of an unborn child then anesthesia would be required to protect the child from the infliction of pain at the time their life is forfeit.
Bramble referred to abortion as a death sentence and says his legislation will help protect unborn babies.
If we could prohibit all abortions except in the rarest of circumstances, if we could overturn Roe V. Wade, I would be a proud sponsor of that bill, said Bramble, adding that the least the state could do is prevent the baby from feeling pain during an abortion.
In a hearing for the bill, Maryann Christensen, executive director of Utah Eagle Forum, testified that amid the murder of our offspring and the despicable practice of abortion, the very least we can do is mitigate the babys pain.
Live Action recently launched a website featuring a video series narrated by Dr. Anthony Levatino, a former abortionist who performed more than 1200 abortions. In one of the videos, Dr. Levatino describes a second trimester D&E abortion, which is the type of abortion that would typically be performed on a preborn child between 15 and 26 weeks gestation six weeks past the start of the Utah bills anesthesia requirement:
I feel sick.
The bill, like virtually every other regulatory “pro-life” bill being offered in our time, completely surrenders the indispensable principles of God-given, unalienable, individual rights, due process, and equal protection under the law.
So any “victory” you think you have gained is a mirage.
When those principles have been given up - since they are the only real moral, constitutional, and legal arguments against the practice of human abortion - the continuation of abortion on demand is absolutely assured.
Especially when you join that error up with your obvious belief that we live in a judicial oligarchy instead of a free constitutional republic with required checks and balances.
You seem . . . to consider the judges as the ultimate arbiters of all constitutional questions; a very dangerous doctrine indeed, and one which would place us under the despotism of an oligarchy.
— Thomas Jefferson, Letter to William Jarvis, Sept. 28, 1820
“I do not forget the position assumed by some that constitutional questions are to be decided by the Supreme Court, nor do I deny that such decisions must be binding in any case upon the parties to a suit as to the object of that suit, while they are also entitled to very high respect and consideration in all parallel cases by all other departments of the Government...At the same time, the candid citizen must confess that if the policy of the Government upon vital questions affecting the whole people is to be irrevocably fixed by decisions of the Supreme Court, the instant they are made in ordinary litigation between parties in personal actions the people will have ceased to be their own rulers, having to that extent practically resigned their Government into the hands of that eminent tribunal.”
— Abraham Lincoln, First Inaugural Address
So you would rather that innocent baby suffer horrible pain as it is cut to pieces? If we cannot stop these horrific murders, at least we can insist that those innocents not suffer so terribly.
Nice straw man.
I oppose laws that codify abortion for the purpose of perpetuating it.
If we cannot stop these horrific murders, at least we can insist that those innocents not suffer so terribly.
But, we CAN stop it. Read what I wrote in post 40.
Look under keyword “forcedabortions” and read the stores I’ve posted.

That is not the thing I think these people were trying to accomplish with this. I believe they were trying to give America a guilt trip by making them realize the baby does feel pain during an abortion. It’s an outlandish law I admit but it proves we knew what the fetus can and can’t be aware of during the abortion, now the people, and I mean people not just the woman will be aware as well.
check both keywords.....
“forcedabortions” and “forcedabortion”
I’ve posted thousands. Will take you a while to read
“And this is coming out of Utah: Mormon Ville can you believe this?....................”
Elsie you know all things mormon, you get in here with your buddy California (what ever his name is sorry not had my coffee) and weigh in on this. Were the lawmakers on this mormons? I don’t know, don’t live in Utah, just posted it this morning.
How about if we used your logic, but substituted you and your right to life for the little person in the womb?
Answer a question for me:
Are your rights superior in some way to the rights of the unborn child?
Wrong!
They are acknowledging that babies feel pain during surgical procedures, JUST LIKE ALL PERSONS DO.
But they are then saying that it is okay to execute babies, without due process, as long as the baby is given something to alleviate pain.
This isn't "guilting" anyone, it's simply another "and then you can kill the baby law" designed to get pro-life support for politicians who have no intention of ending abortion.

Stop referring to a baby as a fetus, it dehumanizes the baby and makes people think of it as a tumor or something.
Murder is immoral regardless of age, awareness and level of pain.
By this logic, it would be okay to blow a person's head off as long as it's done from behind so they aren't aware.

You are probably correct. Sometimes I really want to see the good in people but it’s just not there.
Well, alrighty then.
As long as they don’t **hurt** the baby while they’re dismembering it.
This establishes another fine precedent.
We must make sure Grandma is anesthetized before she is euthanized, too.
Oh no I don't!
Our FR ex-Mo's are the true founts (fonts?) of knowledge and experience in this matter!
Doing the math I would suspect they are.
Utah's population is highly Mormon.
62.2% are members of the COJCOLDS.
58% are of voting age.
You’ll be mis-understood here.
Do they wipe a death row 'victim' with an antiseptic before they stick in the needle for the 'humane injection'?
Can't have a chance of an infection ya know...
You meant ANYONE; right?
Are you still killing your unborn? -- GOD |
I am involved; for I've done nothing to stop it.
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
--Edmund Burke
