Don’t panic, GOP — Donald Trump can beat Hillary

At the end of “The Candidate,” the  engrossing 1972 film about the underbelly of campaigns, rookie  politician Robert Redford is  shocked by his triumph. Grabbing his handler, he pleads, “What do we do now?”

In a case of life imitating art, Donald Trump finds himself in a similar situation. His improbable run is rocking and shocking the world, but after each victory, the climb only gets steeper.

The home stretch of the nomination race is going to be ferocious, and if he survives, he faces a general-election war against Hillary Clinton that would be unlike any in modern times.

Is Trump built to go the distance?

I am not a Trump, Cruz or Rubio supporter but I would rather have Trump win than Kasich.

Trump as the chief executive is at least an unknown. Kasich we know is willing to circumvent the will of a duly elected legislature. In other words a despot in the vein of Clinton/Obama (stroke of a pen law of the land).

The odds are steep - prediction markets hold Hillary has a 64% chance of winning in November and Trump has 20%.

A lot of work ahead for The Donald to unite a fractured party behind him and look like someone who doesn’t scare off moderate and Independent voters.

His task is made easier by the fact most Americans don’t know him well and the GOP Convention in Cleveland would allow him to appear presidential to a national audience.

So there’s plenty of time to be able to beat Hillary. That work begins the moment he clinches the nomination.

Has anyone ever running who had more grit?

Nobody in modern history has ever ever ever run against as much combined effort and corrupted political and media process in the USA

not in my almost 60 orbits around Big Sol

It’s unbelievable to see.

So many people have bought into outright lies for so long.

But with 94 million people not in the workforce, you can bet there’s a large, large number of people who know this “economy” is not “adding jobs”. And they’re not buying the lies outta D.C. from the Uniparty.

That’s why the Uniparty is scared. Very scared.

They made it happen.

I started to REALLY pay attention to politics during the first Stevenson V Ike run. Yes, I was bitty, but I remember it all well.

I have NEVER, in my entire life, seen ANYTHING like this primary season.

We should not be surprised at all if Trump slips here or there. ALL THE FORCES of the Democratic and Republican parties, the media, the Establishment and the rest of the planet are aligned against him.
There has never been anything like this. When Cruz, Rubio and other all talk about “stopping Trump” instead of “Stopping Hilliary”, we now know the ugly truth, hidden from the American public for at least the last 100 years.

The whole concept of “We the people” as envisioned in the Cosntrituionm, drawn up by the Founding Fathers apparently died eons ago. We are only now, witnessing the true panic of the Elites of American society who have had it good, up till now.
When a party turns on itself (the Republicans) and devours itself from within, with the help of the media, the Republic has been tron wide open to see the truth that Trump has exposed.

Sad that Trump is an icebreaker ship, slowly being denied fuel to circumvent the Arctic circle of US politics...

I believe there is a concentrated effort by Team Hitlery to divide the Cruz and Trump supporters using the MSM so that she can try to say the odds in her favor. It's a given she's going to be working the minority vote hard until election even though she's as white as the driven snow.

Thanks. In my haste, I post sometimes without a final check.

Trump is fighting all the elements aligned against him and I hope he wins...despite the “Grand Alliance” against him.
