The West Virginia legislature did not waste any time in overriding Governor Tomblins veto of HB 4145, also known as Constitutional carry or permitless carry. Governor Tomblin vetoed a similar bill in 2015, but the veto occurred after the legislature had adjourned, making a veto override difficult.
This year, 2016, the Constitutional carry bill was passed early enough for the legislature to vote on a veto override if necessary. Governor Tomblin received the Constitutional carry bill on 26 February. He waited to the last possible day to veto it, 3 March. The House of Delegates overrode his veto on 4 March, and the Senate completed the override on 5 March, 2016. From state.wv.us:

Country road, take me home! Love WV.
YAY!
I assume that people passing thru from other states do not need recip between their CCW state and W Virginia now.
Caliph Baraq weeps....
Thanx for posting! Had it in my notes to check next week. Kudos to WV!
Stick that in your Vitalis bottle, Tomblin!
You were elected on one condition...protect coal. You have failed beyond measure.
The rest of your tenure has been attempting to implement the usual leftist nonsense. Your most frequent justification is that ‘other states are doing it’ as if emulating lefty sewers is a positive.
Your blather about safety will be disproven rapidly but at least we don’t have to wait to see your humiliation on a grand scale.
2nd Amendment. Ping
Come May
Yesterday, I think Rush was talking about how the D.C. insiders abhor the “little people” who live in West Virginia.
As Constitutional carry gains ground in more and more states, just think of all the leftists who will be dissuaded from moving to those states!
I think Arizona has already seen some positive effects.
I sense that We the People are finally awakening, and that we are having some success in turning around the ship of state mid-channel. We must prevail.
I have expected this for 20 years. The media-government cartel has proved to remarkably capable of fooling the electorate.
This may be the real deal.
Always amazing that as liberal as Vermont is they allow this.
They did not have a choice. Their Supreme Court ruled that Constitutional carry was protected by their Constitution about 1923, before “progressivism” got its tentacles into everything.
I live in CA. When I visit Friends in AZ and cross he State Line, the 9MM comes out of the locked container in the Trunk.
I liken the experience to the People in East Germany watching the Wall come down in Berlin and crossing over.
We need a list of any laws that would keep leftists from moving to Red States, then pass them all.
Outstanding.
When I first went to WV not long after the turn of the millennium the Dems ran everything. And I mean everything. Nearly half of the counties didn’t even have a Republican organization, not really.
A bunch of us did a whole lot of work to change that. My friend Jay Wolfe didn’t beat Jay Rockefeller, but the seeds were planted and watered by a whole lot of great people that you see coming to fruition now.
I don’t know of another state that has experienced the kind of turnaround that the Mountain State has.
It was always conservative. It just took them awhile to finally abandon their Democrat heritage.
Now if we could just get them to understand that the GOP no longer represents them either...
Why does WV keep electing Democrats?
Some of them are still mad at Lincoln, and Hoover.
