Ben Carson to tell supporters he sees no ‘path forward’ for campaign [will not debate]
Washington Post ^ | 03/02/2016 | Robert Costa

Ben Carson, the retired neurosurgeon who briefly led the Republican presidential race before his campaign began an extended public implosion, will tell his supporters in a statement Wednesday afternoon that he does not see a "path forward" and will not attend Thursday's debate in Detroit, according to two Republicans familiar with his plans.

Carson, however, will not formally suspend his campaign. Instead, the Republicans said, he has decided to make a speech about his political future on Friday at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland, just outside of Washington.

But the announcement will serve as an acknowledgment that Carson's candidacy is all but over following a disappointing showing in the 11 states that held contests on Tuesday.

I am afraid to report this to anyone in case it gets used against me in the next debate.

He’s in the bargaining stage now. Trying to get a seat at the winner’s table.

“At least Dr. Carson is a decent man.”

Soft spoken doesn’t make for a decent man. His prior stories of stabbings and other violence suggests he isn’t so decent.

I would like to see Ben as part of Trump’s Cabinet—Health and Human Services Sec’y, or in charge of the Obamacare replacement. Even the overhaul of the VA would be a good fit.

He is a good man, and his expertise in the medical field would be useful to the country.

Agree, Benny is a good guy.
Should have tried governor or Congress first.

POTUS as his first shot...too big a leap for a guy without management experience.

The light is slowly dawning on Dr. Ben and his White House dreams. It ain’t gonna happen. He was completely ignored at the last debate until he directly asked for attention, in a manner disguised as a ‘joke’.

Now if Cruz and Rubio will follow Dr. Carson’s lead, we can get down to the business of stopping Hillary and winning with a real Patriot, Donald J. Trump.

Ben Carson is a good man. I wonder if he is interested in an appointment of some kind. Can’t see his value-minded supporters going to Trump.

Good.

Leave Kasich in to split the Democrats voting for Trump and the centrists voting Rubio and this is interesting.

He's have a huge challenge in the form of Chris Christie.

..don't want to get in the way of Christie and any table.

“He’s in the bargaining stage now. Trying to get a seat at the winner’s table.”

CNN reported last night there was a “high level” meeting scheduled for today, possibly to offer backing for a FL senate seat.

Bigger issue, who gets the votes now.

Dr. Carson, for all his shortcomings vis-a-vis POTUS, he’s halfway there and on the track we all must be on: he is a man who really ACCOMPLISHED things in life. He made his own money, he didn’t make his living becoming a millionaire at the taxpayers’ teat at the DC Trough like the no-good, lying bunch of Washington Political Class Insiders. We’re on the right track. Let Ben and Donald be the first of ALL private citizens who run for office, serve, and leave, and SHAME those who remain to peddle influence and gather power in Washington.
