Predominantly African-American neighborhoods in Chicago have seen poverty rise and services diminish even as the nation's third largest city has become less racially segregated, according to a study released on Wednesday.
While Chicago has become more racially balanced over the decades with more neighborhoods showing no majority populations, black areas are seeing economic stagnation or decline, according to the study by the Chicago Urban League, which promotes progress for blacks.
"This is not a situation that's getting better. This is a situation that's getting worse," said Stephanie Bechteler, director of research and evaluation for the Chicago Urban League. "We must put forth time and effort to make a change."

Riiiight, any remaining segregation has nothing, nothing to do with the fact that there have been 95 murders in the last 2 months in these neighborhoods, as also cited in the article. It has been and will forever be WHITEY'S FAULT. Guess white people should be forced to take their "fair share" of murders to "level the playing field."
Of course liberalism in general, and obama in particular will NEVER get the blame. Not even remotely.
Interesting how the neighborhoods are now ‘racially balanced’, as the author puts it, so they can’t use ‘whitey’ as a scapegoat any more.
And which political party has run Chicago single handedly for decades?????
I live about 50 klicks out of Chicongo and we have it just same, except we are a more diverse population.
Taxes are up, services are down and my neighbor is unemployed.
I would also venture a guess that we receive considerably less ‘government money’.
Or in other words, the same old same old-more money, more money.
Not to worry, Obama will soon be able to return to his old community agitator job in South Chicago and shake down a few businesses.
And somehow a lot of people (democrats) conclude that this is the republican’s fault. And it means we need to elect more democrats, raise taxes, and restrict gun ownership everywhere else.
You can blame republicans for a lot. But the logic it takes to be a democrat is mystifying.
How long can liberals, and their corrupt MSM enablers, keep cloaking this convenient paradox from the low-information voter? Like clockwork, every 4 years at election time liberals fan the flames of racial strife to leverage votes, Black Lives Matters being the latest iteration, and all the while these same minorities sink lower and lower into the abyss under perpetual Democrat rule.
When is the last time a Republican was elected in Chicago? What century? Detroit? Baltimore? Oakland? It is fantastic that these same people can never quite connect the dots to the source of their misery.
Whatever the problem, it can surely be fixed with more of my tax dollars.

Excellent point. Democrats have run these places for generations. Liberal Democrats, and in many cases, black Democrats have significant power over these largely black cities.
If liberal Democrat policies were going to lead to greater education, lower crime, greater economic development, an expanded tax base, etc. then all of these cities should be shining cities on a hill. They should be places in which people are clamoring to move in, rather than continuing to see an exodus of residents.
To the extent that politics is involved, all of these places are run by Democrats, with minimal if any input from any Republican elected officials at any level of the city government.
But why is it that the liberals, water carriers in the media, etc. NEVER EVER look to the liberal policies which generations of Democrat rule have put into effect?? Why is it they never take a look at those policies to see what effect those policies have had on the situation in these cities???
It’s because they never have enough money, they just need more money and one day everything will be heaven on earth. Once all the wealth produced by the productive taxpayers has been redistributed to the non-productive parasites (after the politicos have skimmed the best of it), utopia will be here. That’s what they’re working for-a complete redistribution from the makers to the takers (takers of all kinds). I don’t know what their plan is once they’ve killed the golden goose.
