Hopefully they'll wait till the plane lands . . . New York Times reporters should be thrown off the Trump plane. That's what Steve Schmidt and Joe Scarborough said on today's Morning Joe. Via a Gail Collins column in the Times and in conversations with BuzzFeed EIC Ben Smith, portions of Donald Trump's ostensibly off-the-record interview with the Times' editorial board in January were leaked.
Said Schmidt: "if I was running the Donald Trump campaign, every New York Times reporter on that plane would be off of it until and unless they clarify the attributional policies of the newspaper." Seconded Scarborough: "every single New York Times reporter should be kicked off the plane, should not be given press access--anything--until the editor of the New York Times editor explains to the candidate and explains to the readers exactly what happened here."

Scarborough and Schmidt say kick New York Times off Trump campaign over over-the-record breach.
Off-The-Record
Whoops! Thanks for the correction!
It doesn’t matter. Know one is changing my vote. Every day more people who think are relevant are realizing they are not. They will become depressed an vicious. I’m in to win it. Just win baby.
What did they leak?
Trump might have signalled flexibility on his immigration stance, suggesting it would all be part of a big negotiation and deal.
I wonder what conservative principle Ted Cruz is invoking when he demands the off-the-record meeting be made public.
“Allegedly [Trump] said he is open to negotiation.” On what??
“Me want win.”
IF Trump received confirmation his remarks would be ‘off the record’ then the reporters should be fired.
If Trump said, “this is off the record’ and there was no confirmation of acceptance then this is a newbie mistake and Trump’s problem. It’s hard to believe New York Times reporters would make this type of mistake.
Are you sick? Cruz was not even mentioned here and had nothing to do with this. This is supposed to be a conservative site for readers.
On his immigration stance. NewsBusters article has links to BuzzFeed and Gail Collins column with more details.
Trump supposedly told them, during a discussion of immigration, border control and the wall, that “everything is negotiable.”
Don’t know the context, don’t know what else he said, the interview was supposed to be off the record, etc.
Cruz and Rubio are calling for the entire transcript of the OTR interview to be released.
100% correct. Amazing how many ‘highly principled’ folks have had nothing to say about the despicable, unethical behavior of the NYT’s personnel in this kerfuffle.
Cruz and Rubio are desperate for a headline.
‘Allegedly [Trump] said he is open to negotiation. On what?”
Again, allegedly he wouldn’t be as firm with deporting the 11 million illegals. That there would be room for negotiation.
Once Trump gets the nomination you can bet NYT will release the audio.(if what was alleged is true) Trump should ban NYT permanently!
I would love to see all the Cubans’ OTR remarks.
It is more reasonable never to trust the NYT again. Let them fly but never allow them access other than to group news Q&A’s.
They’ve shown they are untrustworthy, so don’t trust them.
Somehow Byron York is involved in this. Can someone explain that? He has always seemed such a straight shooter whether I like his ideas or not.
And the leak was again a misrepresentation.
Trump said the details of implementation were negotiable, but not the goal itself. With the wall, for example, the wall itself is not negotiable, but things like locations, design, technology, etc. will be up for discussion.
The lying leak was simply: “up for discussion”.
