Selena Gomez Performs Heartfelt Song to God at Hillsong United Christian Concert

n the face of a culture that constantly mocks Christianity, singer Selena Gomez says that a relationship with God is “greater than anything.”

On Thursday night, the 23-year-old star performed her new song “Nobody” during a surprise appearance at a Los Angeles concert with Hillsong Church’s Young & Free praise and worship band.

"Tonight is more than a concert, it's more than Hillsong, it's more than me coming on stage and singing a song for you," she said onstage. "It's about a relationship that is greater than anything, guaranteed."

In other words, a relationship with God.

“I wrote this song about the one thing that holds it all together for me even when I can’t bear to do it myself,” she added.

At different points during her performance, Gomez lifted up her arms in praise:

Before the song’s chorus (“Nobody’s gonna love me like you”), Gomez began the song with the following lyrics:

No heart, no hands, no skin, no touch

Can get me there, nowhere enough

To love me like you do, to love me like you do

No lips, no feel, no kiss, no rush

Can you keep me high, I swear no one

Can love me like you do.

Gomez first revealed on Twitter that God inspired “Nobody” in October, the day she released her new album Revival:

While Hollywood often pokes fun at Christianity, Gomez doesn’t stand alone in her faith. Jennifer Garner recently publicized her return to church after starring in the upcoming movie Miracles form Heaven, while Angelina Jolie admitted in 2014 that she prayed on set while filming Unbroken.

No wonder Justin Beaver dumped her. She’s not a hedonist like he is.

That’s great! I’ve listened to several Hillsong songs over the years and have really enjoyed them.

I didn’t know much about Selena but I am glad to know the Lord is important to her.

My prayer group keeps praying for Miley Cyrus....just imagine her influence if she were able to return to her Christian roots.

Things like this have occurred. God prefers that anybody would be saved rather than lost. But they still need to accept a salvation.

This is interesting...we should pray for Hollywood. Here is a list of the ministries that exist:

In fact, I think I will post this as well.

Highly likely it was the other way around.

I have been a member of this for years as a prayer partner. None of my prayer partners could survive financially in Hollywood and all three left.

Guess my prayers aren’t very strong.

A pastor talked about that idea, he reminded us that God doesn’t need Miley Cyrus, Miley Cyrus needs God. Our God is omnipotent- He can further His kingdom without the assistance of any celebrities, but all of us,including celebrities, desperately need God. Pray for their salvation because they need to be washed with the blood of Jesus, but not because we think God can’t accomplish as much without their help.

I know....we actually have to see it as the biggest mission field in our culture....and treat it as such with the same focus, plan and intentionality.

I pray for Miley often. There seems to be so much brokenness behind those beautiful blue eyes. Maybe it’s just the mom in me.

Hillsong United’s “Touch the Sky” is one of my current favorite songs.

What a lovely thread. There is a celebrity that I’ve been praying for over two years. It’s been a major prayer burden that the Lord gave me for him. I’ve been seeing God working in his life, but there’s many distractions and obstacles to his salvation. However, I believe that God is going to save him at some point in time, because with our God, nothing is impossible.

One of the missions of my little film company is to make movies Hollywood won’t make. We have a Christian element in every show, but do not want to be Sherwood Baptist Church. They have a great market, but we want to cause non- believers to think, not preach to the choir.
