A locksmith is an interesting profession and it certainly opens them up to liability. But they do work in conjunction with and for the police and probably the FBI and other agencies. It is clear from the links that they definitely do.

So....

The core concern is that the police have (or would have) a lockpick set which I believe that some do and it is analogous to the FBI having the means to crack an electronic device which is just as worrisome. Maybe more so.

Interesting that the feds are having troubles with the Iphone — I'd expect them to be able to crack anything (if it is possible). So maybe their real motive is something else like setting a precedent of compelling companies to work with the feds or, or as you suggest compelling Apple to incorporate a hidden access port on all of their devices. Neither are very good.

...For Brutus is an honourable man;
So are they all, all honourable men--

Though I still hold my country in higher regard than Apple does for China.

And islam needs be destroyed.
