I wonder if he is aware of the natural right of freedom of speech, which is guaranteed by the 1st Amendment to the Constitution? Somebody needs to tell him.
The Constitution to him is just like it is to liberals...it means what comes into their heads. This bozo actually thinks freedom of speech and press is some thing he can get a law passed against. Wait for the Trumpbots to come along and agree with him!!
The 1st Amendment prohibits the government from stopping speech against it...not against people. Liable laws and defamation still apply to attacks on civilians. However, I think there has been some ruling made about politicians. JMHO.
Slander?
False testimony in court?
Yep, we’re just free to say any old thing we want aren’t we.
He’s aware, he just does not care.
Trump will run through America and the Constitution with a flame thrower. Sadly, all too many “conservatives” support that approach. He’s a modern day Sherman’s March.
"Constitution? What is this Constitution thing people keep talking about?" - Donald Trump.
Headlines, the Detroit News:
"Captain Jack Aubrey of FreeRepublic is an Alleged Pedophile."
"According to ANONYMOUS SOURCES" Captain Jack Aubrey was allegedly seen leading two children off a playground into a wooded area where he is alleged to have.............The investigation is ongoing."
Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing isn't it?
Defamation Law, perhaps you’re heard of it? The 1st Amendment does not protect speech or the press when it damages another, surely you know this. What Trump is referring to is quite recent court decisions that have tilted toward increasingly holding the press unaccountable.
“The 1964 case New York Times Co. v. Sullivan, however, radically changed the nature of libel law in the United States by establishing that public officials could win a suit for libel only when they could prove the media outlet in question knew either that the information was wholly and patently false or that it was published “with reckless disregard of whether it was false or not”. Later Supreme Court cases barred strict liability for libel and forbid libel claims for statements that are so ridiculous as to be patently false. Recent cases have added precedent on defamation law and the Internet.”
