The dogs were living in filthy, cramped cages in Korea

Thirty dogs that were living in a South Korean dog meat farm have been rescued by the San Diego Humane Society.

The 21 dogs and nine puppies; which are a variety of breeds, including huskies, golden retrievers and tosas; will be taken in by the local humane society.

The dogs were living in filthy, cramped cages in Korea, and a local team of animal welfare professionals coordinated their rescue.

They were taken from Korea to San Francisco and will be at the local shelter on Thursday, according to a news release from the San Diego Humane Society.

The rescue was coordinated in conjunction with Humane Society International.

Many of the dogs suffer from diseases and malnutrition and most have been subject to animal cruelty, the humane society said.

The dogs and puppies, all under 2 years old, will be medically treated over the next two weeks before they can be adopted.

30 down, 2.5 million to go. I knew some ate dogs there but I didn’t know the number of dogs were that many million a year. Web research gives one that number

Like we don’t have enough dogs here already how are they going to pass quarantine.

They sure they all have their shots for crossing international borders.

I smell a huge publicity stunt here, A total waste of time and resources.

Reason enough to avoid dog meat:

“Many of the dogs suffer from diseases and malnutrition “

Replace the dog meat dishes with dog farmer meat dishes. Idi Amin said the meat of that type is saltier, so the recipes have to be adjusted.

A few years ago, some Ahole over at Reason was pushing the notion that strays should be used to feed homeless people. I never saw libertarians quite the same way after that.

A guy that I have worked with for the past 25 years, was one of the “boat people” that fled S. Vietnam after the fall of Saigon. His father scrimped and saved enough money to book him safe passage to the US.

Once he self sustaining with a good job, he sent for his dad and had him come to live with him in the US. This was about 22 years ago.

As you can imagine, there was a lot of culture shock that his dad would have to endure. He had never heard of supermarkets or grocery stores. One day, they went shopping.

He couldn’t read or speak English, so his son had to translate for him every amazing food item in the store.

Eventually they found themselves in the pet food aisle. His dad spotted a 50 pound bag with a picture of a dog on it. His eyes got wide and a huge smile crossed his face.

His son had to explain to him that it was a bag of food for a dog. NOT 50 pounds of dog.

True story.

What the hell did he think when they passed the display of baby food with a smiling infant on the label?
