Now that Donald Trump has won three primaries by convincing margins, there are at least some cracks in the wall of opposition to his candidacy within some segments of the Republican Party establishment.
As Trump racks up delegates and makes it more difficult for the four remaining challengers to catch him in the race for delegates, some major GOP donors are questioning the purpose and efficacy of efforts to derail Trumpâs candidacy.
Bob Grand, managing partner of Barnes & Thornburg in Indianapolis, was a financial supporter and bundler for former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. He hasnât yet decided if heâs going to throw his support behind Sen. Marco Rubio or another candidate with Bush out of the race. What Grand wonât do, however, is fund efforts to take down Trump.
The influential establishment donor who raised more than $1 million for Mitt Romney in 2012, believes that Trump is better than the Democratic alternative.
âIt might be interesting to see what (Trump) doesâ if he does become the partyâs nominee, Grand said.
Another longtime Republican donor, Fred Malek, an adviser to four Republican presidents, all but dismissed efforts to try and stop Trump at this point. He noted there is no central organization for anti-Trump donors to rally around and that it would be a bad idea even if there were.
âIf you did that I think thereâd be deep-seated resentment at a group of wealthy donors telling people what to do,â Malek said in an interview Tuesday.
And Malek noted that time is running out. Two dozen states vote in the next three weeks.
Another element is feeding the anti-Trump fissures: heâs gained support from the Republican political class.

Where’s that guy with his train post?
Get onboard or get run over.
Latest Quinnipiac Florida Poll shows Trump with a 20 point lead over Rubio with Cruz way back in third.
They fought a good fight /$
As convincing as the craftsmanship of Generation XBox Trumpanzees who PENN manufactured "confrontation" into "reality"... (and then retract it)?

...round 2 a.m. on Sunday, we discovered from another Cruz staffer that the book in question in the video was the Bible, and we updated the post accordingly. But this significantly changed the meaning of Rubio's words as originally transcribed, as it now purported to show Rubio pointing to the Bible and saying "not a lot of answers in there." Later, the accuracy of that transcription was brought into question due to the unclear audio; upon returning to Philadelphia Sunday evening, we updated the post to reflect uncertainty over what was said...
But Cruz Communications Director Rick Tyler had shared the original post on Twitter and Facebook earlier Sunday.

I really don't get why p*$$ing on their fellow American to keep the borders porous and unguarded is to damned important to them. While I understand the desire of the donor class to pay niggardly wages and let the peasants collect the remainder of their subsistence from the public coffers, there are an ample number of American already here to fulfill that role.
The opposition to Trump is all about money. The Special Interests, Lobbyists and other who traditionally buy politicians stand to lose their influence and for many of them their jobs. That is why Trump scares them and they are panicking.
“Generation XBox Trumpanzees”?
That’s literally the best you could come up with?
About those cracks...Okay, who mooned back?
I am going to hazard a guess that you are running on less than a full tank.
There is definitely some truth to that, but I just don’t see it as the entire picture. The donor class has supported very wealthy men since the days of FDR, including Tom Dewey, the Rockefeller family, the Kennedy family and even Mitt Romney in the last cycle.
Who had to retract?

Those “very wealthy people” also welcomed the donations from the donor class, lobbyists etc. and spent very little of their own money. That made those “very wealthy people” like the Kennedy’s, and Romney just as obligated to the donor class and the lobbyists as if they weren’t “very wealthy people”. Trump on the other hand won’t take their money and that is what scares them.
From the establishment’s perspective, they are resisting a hostile takeover. The smart ones will stand down and try to negotiate surrender terms.
Just a valuation of return on investment. It not so much they are softening to Trump and resigning themselves to him. Doesn’t pay to throw good money after bad.
Right, the guy got fired by Cruz because of the Trumpzees.
Pathetically stupid post on your part.
>>running on less than a full tank.
How full was that PENN retraction?

I hope the establishment will lighten up - and understand that Trump will be a decent president - certainly better than what we have now or what the Democrats have to offer. Hope the GOP does not cut off its nose to spite its face!
Well and nobody wants to be on the United States President’s chit list either. LOL!
