Wow! I’ve watched a lot of tornado videos but missed that one. Just beautiful and terrifying.

We had an awful breakout here in Orlando in ‘98...F3’s...over 40 killed, 200 injured, 3,000 buildings ruined. It went over my house but didn’t touch down for another mile. I can’t describe the sky, even though it was late at night, there were purple flashes. I was watching the local news and suddenly all the hype and excitement left the voice of the meteorologist. You could hear the fear in his voice, the certainty that we were in trouble. He stayed very professional and calm, but he knew it was going to be bad.

I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out how my friend and step-mother fared. Both are early-to-bed people so I couldn’t call. Emails await them in their inboxes and with luck, I’ll have replies when I wake up tomorrow.

Now we’re fretting over friends in GA since that storm line now seems to have a bead on them. :-(

I’ll be glad when this night’s over but not nearly as glad as everyone in the path of this mess. I feel so bad for those who’ve been caught up in it.

I’m fascinated by tornados, too. For years, my dream has been to go out west and travel with storm chasers.

When the tornado that hit us had passed on by, the first thing my hubby said was, “Well, I guess this kills your desire to ride with storm chasers, huh?” My reply was, “Oh HECK no! It’ll take more than this.” No one has ever accused me of being sane. LOL!

If I ever get to do it, I wanna ride with Brandon! That video is awesome! What an experience for them!

It is truly frightening to see Mother Nature demonstrate her power.

I cannot even imagine what kind of cajones it took to sit in that car and let that tornado pass over them.

If I even had the guts to try that, I know I would be cleaning myself up afterwards. A lot.

I have watched a lot of programs and videos on tornadoes, but that one > all.

Yeah, that was a monstrous tornado.
I do it in a heartbeat IF, and only IF, I was in that vehicle with Brandon. But I’d wear the largest size Depends they make. LOL!

I love watching tornado videos, and if there’s a good thunderstorm nearby, I’m outside watching it. In TN, we have plenty of them and a few tornados thrown in for good measure.

But as much as I love them, I always feel bad for anyone who loses everything in those storms. We were lucky that the only building damaged here was the tractor shed and we had some trees blown over. It could have been a lot worse, and it has been for a lot of people today and tonight. :-(

A little rain, a little breeze, that’s it.

Thanks for asking, nully.

My area got lucky (Gautier is between Biloxi and Pascagoula) as most of the bad stuff seemed to split left and right of us. Had a bit of rain for a short period and some "breeziness" but nothing that could be considered as severe storms.

Prayers up for those who rode the wild ones - been through a few hurricanes and one major tornado and my heart goes out to those who suffer similar.
