Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit has not been on the post long, but already has determined that the policy of demolishing the homes of murderous Arab terrorists should be done away with in cases where the families of the terrorist hand them over.
Mandelblit's decision comes with the goal of passing a message that the demolition is not a punishment but rather a deterrent step, as determined by the courts on numerous occasions, reports Channel 2 on Tuesday night.
According to the report, due to Mandelblit's decision the planned wave of demolitions of terrorists' homes on Monday night did not include the home of the terrorist who murdered Rabbi Ya'akov Litman and his son Netanel in a shooting attack in southern Har Hevron last November.
It was decided that the terrorist's home would not be demolished, since his father passed along the information that led to his arrest instead of helping his son escape.
In the demolitions on Monday night the homes of two Arab terrorists who carried out lethal attacks against Israelis on November 19 were demolished. The homes demolished included that of the terrorist who carried out the stabbing attack at the Panorama Building in Tel Aviv, and the home of the terrorist who carried out a shooting attack at the Gush Etzion junction.

ZACTLY!!
This guy went to law school.
-Now his father must fear reprisals from his fellow Pali neighbors, plus be made a paraiah,-
Most likely this was done for political purposes. No competent Israeli would actually expect somebody living in the territories to turn in a terrorist, let alone a family member. If he did that person-s lifespan could be measured in hours.

A reasonable ruling.
As a lawyer, I have occasion to be involved in some cases that involve proceedings in Israel that may affect legal rights or cases here where I practice. Between that exposure to the Israeli legal system, and what you learn from news items like these, I must say that Israel has a very messed up legal system. An A.G. gets to dictate major anti-terror policy decisions on his own? Supreme Court judges picking other Supreme Court lawyers? Administrative detention? I’ve read judicial decisions from Israel as well. While they can be very sophisticated, I am shocked at how the judges basically either make stuff up or decide on their own to expand, modify or reject legal principles and rules at the drop of a hat. I also found some of the judges to be shockingly and openly political in their decision making. Sad.
