Nearly $100 million in super PAC money couldn't save Jeb Bush (Murphy spent 80% of his donors' cash)

As former Florida governor Jeb Bush suspended his presidential bid Saturday night, new details were trickling in about the massive investments the Right to Rise super PAC made to prop up his candidacy.

As of Saturday, the group had raced through at least $95.7 million out of the $118.6 million it had collected by the end of January, according to Federal Election Commission filings.

Almost $87 million went into a barrage of television ads, online videos, slick mailers and voter phone calls. The group flew an airplane with a banner mocking Donald Trump over a rally of his supporters, produced a 15-minute documentary detailing Bush's biography, sent Bush supporters individual video players, took out a billboard mocking Trump and crammed the airwaves in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. In the final days, Right to Rise kept the spigot on, dumping another $1.9 million into South Carolina and Nevada.

I could have told him he didn’t stand a chance for a LOT less money. Did he not know his last name is Bush? Wasn’t he paying attention back in 2004 - 2008?

I find that news quite satisfying.

He should have listened to his mother the first time she said..”no more Bush’s.”

These Rove-style geniuses were too stupid to see that Brand Bush will no longer sell in America. I am SO glad they flushed all that money down the toilet. For one thing, it puts to rest the lie that money buys votes in America.

The benefit of his waste is that it has likely drained the GOP-E big donors so they are now out of the race.

It’s a small thing but here in NH the only signs that weren’t cleaned up were JEB! and Hillary. With all that cash they could have picked up after themselves.

Great images. This should also signify the end of Karl Rove and Mike Murphy of having any career at all in the new GOP.

I think his downfall was not understanding that money doesn't vote.

It wasn’t Murphy’s money and it wasn’t Jeb’s money. They spent OPM like there was no tomorrow.

And I don’t feel in the least sorry for the mega-rich donors who put down millions on a losing bet.

Seriously, this candidacy should have died months ago.

I’m so glad to see it finally put out of its misery.

No one will miss Jeb. Good riddance!

Screw you Jeb! You should be ashamed, dragging your 90-year old mother out to try to save your useless campaign.

Looks like The Right to Rise left without their prize. Call it an expensive demise—surprised? Damn that NY wise guy who stole the pie as Jeb’s mom cries. But its no surprise they were quite unwise. Keep the change along with the lies. Hear the RINO’s whine—So bye byes.

Now we just need Murphy to endorse Rubio, or better yet to sign on as campaign manager.

Watch the “moderate center” of the toilet swirling, swirling down.
