Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, once considered the Republican Party's most likely presidential nominee, is ending his campaign after a dismal showing in South Carolina's primary.
"The people of Iowa and New Hampshire and South Carolina have spoken, and I really respect their decision, so tonight I am suspending my campaign," he told backers in the Palmetto State.
Bush, who entered the race with great fanfare and trumpeted massive fundraising numbers early in his campaign, was ultimately weighed down by Republicans' concerns about continuing the political dynasty of his father and brother.

Partly. Most of us were worried that there was no political daylight between Jeb! and Hillary.

Bush said he could win without/in spite of the base. The base obviously saw things a little differently.
Good Bye !Yeb.

Yeah, in 2020 (or 2024 if there is a Republican incumbent in 2020), Jeb can run again and have the benefit of greater name recognition. This time around he just had to spend too much money just introducing himself to voters.
Sure, there was a Bush on the ticket in 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992, 2000, and 2004, but 5 of the 6 were in the last millennium.*
(*The 3rd millennium began in 2001.)

A lot of respect showing up for him now that he’s withdrawing.
I’m encouraged. Trump won but he didn’t dominate. If Cruz can pick up some of the votes from the bottom three, he’s got it baby.
I think Trump’s base is solid but not growing.
