Try reading the actual words, not just putting your own emotion based spin on them based.

TRANSCRIPT

COOPER: If Obamacare is repealed and there’s no mandate for everybody to have insurance what’s to… and why would insurance company not have a pre-existing insure somebody…

TRUMP: I like tne mandate. Okay, so here’s how I’m a little bit different. I don’t want people dying on the streets and I say this all the time. And I say this… Look I did five speeches maybe six speeches today we had a lot of rallies with thousands and thousands of people. I mean we get big crowds. Everytime I talk about this I get standing ovations. The Republican people, they’re wonderful people, they don’t want people dying on the streets. Sometimes they say, “Donald Trump wants single-payer.” Because there is a group of people, as good as these plans are, and by the way your insurance will go way down you’ll have better players, you’ll get your own doctor

COOPER: Which…

TRUMP: Obama lied. Remember this…

COOPER: A person with a pre-existing condition should be able to get insurance?

TRUMP: Yes. Obama lied when he said you’re gonna keep your plan, you get to keep your doctor. I was a pure lie. Frankly many democrats went along only because they believed him. He lied twenty-eight times. Twenty-eight times he said it. Twenty-eight times. If that were in the private sector you be sued for fraud. Okay? He lied to get the plan through. He got it through and it’s turned out to be a disaster. The wrong people are buying it. You know what’s happening. It’s dead. It’s gonna… Look, ObamaCare is dead. It’s gonna be repealed, gonna be replaced. But I will say this, Anderson, if we don’t do something quickly you can have a health care problem that you… like you’ve never seen before in this country. Now the new plan is good, it’s going to be inexpensive, it’s going to be much better for the people. But there’s gonna be a group of people at the bottom people that haven’t done well, people that don’t have any money that won’t be able to be taken care of. We’re gonna take care of them through maybe concepts of medicare. We have hospitals that aren’t doing well. We have doctors aren’t doing well. You cannot let people die on the street, okay? Now some people would say “that’s not a very Republican thing to say.” Every time I say this at a rally, or even today I said it, once again a standing ovation, I said, you know, the problem is everybody thinks that you people as Republicans hate the concept of taking care of people that are really, really sick and are gonna die. And that’s not single-payer, by the way, that’s called “heart.” We’ve gotta take care of people that can’t take care of themselves. But the plans will be much less expensive than Obamacare, they’ll be far better than Obamacare, you’ll get your doctor you get everything you want to get, it’ll be unbelievable. [Italics are mine, read this a couple of times.] But you’ve got to get rid of the lines. You’ve got to have competition. those people that are left, we gotta help them live and everybody likes it when I say it, and that includes Republicans and it’s not single-payer.

Someone (Kenny) already explained to you that , “Trump was not talking about the mandate to have insurance. The discussion was on people with pre-existing conditions being able to afford insurance. Trump replied he liked THAT mandate not that everyone has insurance.”

Post the transcript, then.

Trump likes the mandate that everyone have insurance. That was the question. He said NOTHING in his remarks about pre-existing conditions. Nothing.

What I just posted in reply to a snarky comment to me:

You think it’s funny? I know people who haven’t been to the Dr due to no health insurance. I disagree with Obamacare for many reasons but it has helped some people...people I know...such as people who work at a Fortune 500 company as contractors because that’s all that available and they’re glad to have the jobs that haven’t been sent to India. Literally.

Very funny, huh?

40% of doctors don't accept Medicaid patients. You are correct that everyone has access to medical care thru the ERs including illegal aliens. That is a mandate from SCOTUS.

With 70 million on Medicaid and CHIPs and another 47 million on Medicare, more than a third of the population is on single payer already. And the numbers will grow with an aging population and growing poverty rolls.

Oh, look. Another piece by Red State... ZZZzzzzzz......

Nonetheless - he DID say on Anderson Cooper last night, that he supports the individual mandate. What does whoever posting about it have to do with it? He out and out said he supports the mandate.

Now this being Trump . . . of course he could change his mind back again for the umpteenth time and say something totally completely different tomorrow. But YES, he supports the individual mandate.

but who really knows what in the hell he actually believes ? I mean seriously. He is all over the board while he tries to garner republican votes, after espousing mostly liberal ideas most of his adult life.

You and redstate do not understand the word “mandate” in Trumps statement. Nice try.

In case no one bothered to listen to the context of the discussion it was not about the mandate to be forced to buy insurance. It was about that small area in Obamacare that says insurance companies must accept those with pre existing conditions. Whether you agree about pre existing conditions or not, at least keep the issue clear.

Trump hits are self inflicted. Tell me again why I should vote for someone who can’t decided between Israel and Islam, like affirmative action and Obama’s health care mandate? Oh yes, he’s going to deport 11M illegals and flip off the establishment. I forgot.

I don’t know how these things get reported. I’m watching Trump and Cruz... I’ll vote for one of the 2. This kind of reporting makes no sense. It’s in quotes... when was it quoted.. and is it a correct quote.

I heard Trump this week on Hannity radio... he was asked the question about what he’d do for health care. I heard in Trump’s own words that he favored medical health savings.. and to be able to buy insurance in any state anywhere. and that pre existing conditions would be covered.

So where does this report come from that says he favors obamacare... it does not match what I heard Trump say just this week.

Clarify for me. Cooper asked specifically about the mandate, which has very well-defined meaning when it comes to Obamacare. Trump stated he likes the mandate.

Classic example of a Trump supporter twisting any statist or leftist position Trump takes as being conservative. Thanks for the timely demonstration.

“He “likes the mandate.” Stop right there. What conservative supports a mandated transaction foisted on Americans?”

Trump was not talking about the Obama mandate forcing you to buy a plan....no where has he said that

BUT

GW BUSH’s part D prescription MESS, which the R’s voted for is MANDATED...why does everyone forget that? I know because I got fined for not getting it!

He said “mandate” but then went on to describe something very different from the “you will be fined if you don’t buy insurance” type of mandate, which would be repealed.

Got that exactly wrong. Truth and accuracy matter. That why Trump supporters actually LISTEN to Trump, not just pick out words and put their own spin on them like the Cruz supporters do around here daily.

Plenty of other comments on the thread explaining the overall context. Try reading them with an open mind.

BTW, I am fine with either Trump or Cruz. I'm just not a fan of these kind of twisted attacks on either man.

And - you love a mandate?

dirtboy wrote, in response: Guess what? As long as emergency rooms are forced to treat anyone regardless of ability to pay, and as long as we have massive Medicaid programs, we for all practical purposes have universal coverage, and a very inefficient system for such at that. Trump talks about removing limitations for efficiency and competition at the same time he speaks of a mandate.

"Many of the uninsured use emergency rooms as a last resort for their health needs, since the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) requires that hospitals provide emergency healthcare treatment to whoever needs it."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergency_Medical_Treatment_and_Active_Labor_Act

The Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) is an act of the United States Congress, passed in 1986 as part of the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA). It requires hospital Emergency Departments that accept payments from Medicare to provide an appropriate medical screening examination (MSE) to individuals seeking treatment for a medical condition, regardless of citizenship, legal status, or ability to pay. There are no reimbursement provisions. Participating hospitals may not transfer or discharge patients needing emergency treatment except with the informed consent or stabilization of the patient or when their condition requires transfer to a hospital better equipped to administer the treatment.

Cooper specifically asked about the mandate to insurance companies that they must accept PRE EXISTING conditions not a mandate that individuals must have insurance. You guys even posted the comment and yet you that hate Trump will read it and lie that it is not as you read. Pathetic!

LOL, I see that when presented with the facts of what Trump actually said, many Ted Cruz supporters tend to just double down on their lies. Just like their candidate.

Sad to watch the dishonestly and lies spread like wildfire from the candidate who was supposed to be wearing the “armor of God” and become the voice of Christian truth in politics.
