Scott Killerud was about to throw away a mailing about the 2016 enrollment period for MNsure last November when something caught his eye.

"Just as I was going to drop it in the trash, I was like - wait a second. What did I just read?" the Pine County farmer said.

That is really scary. I’m in Pa., where the last governor held the line on Medicaid expansion. The one we have now would do this in a New York second. Underscores estate planning and if possible, divesting assets to children long before the government can get their hands on them. Thanks for that heads up.

More proof that “free stuff” is the most expensive stuff around.

Apparently, consumer protection law doesn’t apply to MNsure.

If Bernie Sanders gets the WH, just see how much free stuff he’ll be giving away.

This was all covered in detail years ago during the various rounds of debate on Obamacare. No surprise, is a very-well known feature of “free” Gvt healthcare.

Just need to go and dig out the old threads.

Bend over, people, here comes your "free" healthcare insurance. Obozo promised your insurance rates wouldn't increase. Now we find out he not only lied about that, he's going to manage to screw us again after we die!

I was under the impression this is the case in most states.

I bet most of them never read it, or understood it. Why should they? It’s “free!” The government wouldn’t lie to them. /s

Baby boomers were taken care of by their parents until the parents died; now they are sending the bills to their children.

The State is just trying to get the other 50% missed by the Death Tax.

“I was under the impression this is the case in most states.”

Yes, all states can do it, most do.

Nothing new here, some states have this, others don’t. If you take Medicaid, some states will come after your estate after your death for what was spent on your care while you were alive.... Nothing new here.

Not all states have this, but some do. Ohio is one that does.

Actually the State is just trying to get reimbursed for the money it spent on your health care while you were alive... why do people think there is a free lunch?

The state is covering your medical cost... once you are dead, they are trying to get reimbursed what they can for it. I doubt very highly they are made whole the overwhelming majority of the time since you have to be poor to qualify for Medicaid in the first place.
