Veteran homicide investigators in New York and Washington, DC, on Monday questioned the way local and federal authorities in Texas handled the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.
"It's not unreasonable to ask for an autopsy in this case, particularly knowing who he is," retired Brooklyn homicide Detective Patricia Tufo told The Post.
"He's not at home. There are no witnesses to his death, and there was no reported explanation for why a pillow is over his head," Tufo said. "So I think under the circumstances it's not unreasonable to request an autopsy. Despite the fact that he has pre-existing ailments and the fact that he's almost 80 years old, you want to be sure that it's not something other than natural causes."
Bill Ritchie, a retired deputy chief and former head of criminal investigations for the DC police, said he was dumbstruck when he learned that no autopsy would be performed.
"I took a look at the report and I almost fell out of my chair," Ritchie told The Post from his home in Maryland.
"I used to be an instructor in the homicide school. Every death investigation you are handling, you consider it a homicide until the investigation proves otherwise," Ritchie said.
"How do you know that person wasn't smothered? How do you know it's not a homicide until you conduct an investigation? You have to do your job. Once you go through that process, you can conclude that this is a naturally occurring death."
Presidio County Judge Cinderela Guevara said she declared Scalia dead via telephone based on what cops and marshals at the scene told her -- that there were no signs of foul play.

I think it stinks, personally. If anything, this is reason enough to stall and squash ANY nomination Obama makes.
This could be the problem.
Many people die from this Moslem administration

The pillow thing is kind of silly. If he was smothered to death in his sleep, do you really think the murderer would have left the pillow on top of his head? It’s a non-issue that everyone keeps focusing on.
Did the DemocRATS dump Scalia in the ocean yet?
And the statement I read by the owner, entirely in quotes, tells us directly that he could view Scalia's entire face when he walked in the room...and he did NOT mention the position of the pillows.

Actually what I keep focusing on is the fact it would have been so easy to chopper in a ME or even another Dr to actually observe and pronounce the man dead. Ridiculous this day in age to pronounce over the phone even in West TX. They chopper to the cattle every day out there.
If I’m not mistaken, there would’ve been petechial hemorrhaging in a case of suffocation which would’ve been noticeable by an external examination.

I’m sure your answer will satisfy the veteran NY police detectives who have experience in such matters; obviously they never thought of your insight.
Pillow could have been left there for the very reason you site - making a homicide a non-issue. No issue, no autopsy, no problem.
So now you are ignoring what Detectives think? This is what they do full time. They know what they are talking about.
The purpose of the pillow over the face is to send a message to the rest of the Judges, congress, etc.... So they really know what happened. Despite what the media lies to the public about.
Perhaps they are lying to the public to keep everyone calm?
Judges get threatened often. It’s nothing out of the realm of possibility.
Actor Woody Harrelson’s father in Texas went to Prison for doing just that. His father killed a federal judge.
They have now changed the link that I used few days ago (they added conspiracy mockery). I doubt he was murdered, but seems a lot of people want us to think he was.
Who gains and who loses.
Whoever has the most to gain from this is usually suspect #1.
An autopsy should have been done for 3 reasons:
Because of who he is and was alone.
Because of the election and what his death means to the country.
Because no autopsy would cause all of this controversy, and it will go on for years.
That’s about the tenth time I’ve gotten a dismissive comment for being a “newbie”. Why do you guys always try to run off people?
Fact is, I was there at the first FR impeachment rally against Clinton on Halloween, in 1997. FR has a habit of purging conservatives periodically, that’s all. Ironic that it’s the only site on the internet that’s ever banned me, and done so more than once.

Perhaps, on the surface, the pillow on the head MAY be silly. If you have some time google (or duck-duck-go) the owner of the resort who paid for all the guests’ expenses and invited Scalia. He apparently has some sort of strange obsessive-compulsive need for fastidiousness and arranging things into a “proper” and pleasing order.
