Yesterday, February 14, was Valentineâs Day, the sacred day that intimate companions mark to celebrate their love and affection for one another. If youâre thinking about making a study of how couples celebrate this day, the Muslim world and the milieus of the radical Left are not the places you should be spending your time. Indeed, itâs pretty hard to outdo jihadists and âprogressivesâ when it comes to the hatred of Valentineâs Day. And this hatred is precisely the territory on which the contemporary romance between the Left and Islamic fanaticism is formed.

You want to make a friend of every guy in a bar (as a straight guy I mean)?
Just ask “who here hates Valentine’s Day?”
Men HATE HATE HATE VD! The day, I mean (I don’t think we care for the other either).
As a confirmed curmudgeon, I save a few of my Christmas “bah humbugs” for Valentines day. As Jew, I find it strange to be celebrating St. Valentines day. When I was single, I detested the day, unless I had a date.
If I was a florist or a purveyor of candy or stuffed animals, I’d love it.
P.S.: FWIW, my daughter was proposed to yesterday, and she said yes (no surprise, they've been going together since early high school). It will be a few years before the wedding, though, since she wants to get her RN first, and is in prereqs now.

an excellent day, in my view, to choose for reducing the already too long month of February...were it possible...
My wife makes a big deal about Valentines Day, and, being a smart husband, realizing that a happy wife is a happy life, I play along.
Congrats to your daughter!
I don’t care much about Valentines Day.
I DO care about romantic love, which is for every day.
The Left and the Islamics are both at war with romantic love because it elevates women. Romantic love is (at its best) focused upon the appreciation of women and the respect due to women by men.
Why do these factions hate women? Because the being that they blindly serve (and from whom they get their marching orders) particularly hates and victimizes women.
I love the graphic and congrats to your daughter!
RN daughters are extra special (we have one - our oldest daughter is an RN and ER nurse). She is also married (late 20’s) and the mother of our two year old granddaughter.
I mention this because this is probably the start of much joy in your life! (Good Lord willing, of course).
If you have a significant other of the female persuasion, ignore it at your own peril. My wife loves the day. I don't mind buying her the requisite gewgaws because it makes her happy. That's the bottom line.
If I don't get her at least a card, I can expect a few days of grumbling and mumbling and other manifestations of anti-male behavior. Better to give in and buy some stuff for her.
On the plus side, Valentine’s Day means no more Vermont Teddy Bear commercials for the next 50 weeks.
Turned into a wise choice indeed. We get to eat in nice restaurants with no crowds or waiting. Waitstaff are not rushed and harried like they are on Valentine's Day and I'm sure we get much better quality food as well.
Restaurants on Valentine's Day are a nightmare. Especially for those poor souls who work in them. Just search "Working in restaurant on Valentine's Day" and see what horror stories come up. You do NOT want to be a customer at a restaurant on Valentine's Day!
For some going out to eat on Valentines Day is like black Friday...they want to be a part of the crowd......but you are right about the food etc. The kitchens are a nightmare for chefs etc......my son is a manager of a five star....it’s insane!
